Job description

ADAS Driving Validation Engineer

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is looking for an engineer to join the Autonomous Driving Team of the Autonomous Development Department, which oversees testing, development, and performance efforts concerning ADAS driving and parking features for Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis North American (NA) vehicles

What You Will Do:
  • Support validation efforts concerning autonomous driving functions, including checking sensor (i.e., camera and radar systems) and feature performance (e.g., FCA, LKA, BCA, SCC, LFA, HDA, etc.) from a NA customer perspective
  • Utilize and modify test development plans (TDPs) to ensure acceptable system performance and improve system efficiency
  • Identify performance and specification deficiencies, perform root cause analysis, and report concerns through company channels while tracking issues to closure
  • Create and present clear, concise reports for management review, including project status, technical data, and competitive benchmarking studies
  • Benchmark competitor vehicle performance and assist in establishing development and performance targets
  • Interface and support regional sales teams and manufacturing facilities on ADAS-related inquiries and tests
  • Analyze customer feedback results from internal and external media sources (e.g., J.D. Power IQS, Consumer Reports, social media, traditional media, and internal and external customer clinics)
  • Perform and participate in cost-saving initiatives, along with activities that analyze revenue streams and improve the overall business model related to ADAS implementations                                                                         
  • Support the identification and development of new technologies, strategies, and methods for improving the performance of current and future Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles
  • Execute additional projects and tasks as assigned
  • Travel up to 15% of the time, both domestically and internationally
What You Will Bring to the Role:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or a related engineering field
  • Experience with autonomous driving and parking systems and features
    • Familiarity with camera, radar, and ultrasonic sensor systems is beneficial
  • Knowledge of in-vehicle communication protocols
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and analysis software (e.g., INCA, CANape, CANoe, MATLAB, etc.)
  • Familiarity with embedded systems validation
  • Strong problem-solving skills
    • Ability to diagnose complex issues and develop robust solutions under tight timelines and in cooperation with adjacent teams
  • Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent time management, self-management, and organization skills
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills
  • Valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record
