Job description

Job Title:  Valet Parking Attendant-Ontario

$17.75 hr. Full-time & Part-time Positions Available 

(Valet attendants are entitled to receive tips)

Department:            Airport Operations - Ontario

Reports To:              Lot Supervisors, Field Managers, Office Managers

Summary:  Valet Attendants are required to greet customers and check them into the valet parking management system (netPARK).  Once checked in, vehicles are moved to the valet holding lot(s) for storage.  Valet Attendants will then use netPARK to track the customer’s return and have their car ready and waiting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ability to read, speak and comprehend English.  This includes simple instructions, correspondence and memos.
  • Greets customers and provides accurate airport information on parking rates and terminal information, directions, and other general information.
  • Open and close valet tickets using netPARK.
  • Runs revenue, audit, storage, and additional  reports as needed.
  • Provides customers with assistance getting luggage in and out of vehicles.
  • Provides breaks to other attendants, as needed.
  • Processes prepaid parking transactions.
  • Opens/closes lanes by placing a cone in the drive lane, and in between vehicles when directed to do so.
  • Assists customers with finding their cars upon request.
  • May be required to provide management with accurate vehicle counts for holding lot(s)..
  • Reports any customer incidents to PCI management.
  • Maintains clean and orderly booth and surrounding areas of the valet stand.
  • Follows direction and communicates clearly with all levels of PCI supervision/management.
  • Works well with others in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Possesses ability to write clearly and document all required information on daily paperwork forms.
  • Requires sitting/pivoting/ standing for duration of up to 8+ hours during peak arrival/departure times.
  • Provides customer service skills following company guidelines.
  • Safely and efficiently moves customer vehicles from the valet curb to the holding lot and back.

Education and/or Experience                                                  

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  A valid Class C driver license with a clean driving record is required.

Language Skills                                                  

Ability to read, speak and comprehend English.  This includes simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.  Ability to write simple notations that effectively present information to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills                                            

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money.

Reasoning Ability                                               

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills                                                  

Valet Attendants must be able to operate both the POS terminal, as well as handheld iPhone components of netPARK.  No further computer skills are required.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to follow directions and communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work well with others as a team player in a fast pace work environment and to direct and motivate employees.
