As a Maintenance Superintendent - Electrical you will supervise maintenance personnel for effective execution of electrical maintenance activities in the refinery. Oversee the preventive maintenance, overhaul, repair, reliability, and replacement of electrical equipment.

  • Provide leadership and direction to develop and implement electrical equipment reliability programs/procedures.
  • Direct the maintenance activities of the assigned electrians.
  • Ensure that company and contract electrical maintenance employees are in compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Analyze all work requests to determine necessary repair or replacement and advise as to estimate manpower and material requirements.
  • Determine needs for electrical maintenance materials, warehouse stock, rental equipment and/or contract services.
  • Help in the counseling, training, development and appraisal of the performance of electrical maintenance hourly employees in their assigned craft.
  • Assist in the development and coordination of electrical work.
  • Attend daily meetings to assist in accomplishing scheduled work and resolving key and important electrical maintenance problems.
    Hold toolbox safety meetings and inspections, necessary to achieve safety goals while communicating changes in company policy, procedures, and objectives to employees.
  • Provide judgment on the repair versus replacement of equipment.
  • Monitor quality and quantity of work being done by outside repair shops and suppliers.
  • Analyze problems that may arise and find a workable solution that is practical as well as cost efficient. Implement safe work habits for all employees and supervise outside service contractors so they might function efficiently.
  • Ensure that the necessary equipment is ordered and an adequate supply of parts is maintained in stock by utilizing SAP and interaction with the Warehouse and Planning Departments.
  • Maintain and evaluate equipment history through the SAP system.
  • Provide support and interface with Maintenance Supervisors, Maintenance Planners, Operations Superintendents and unit engineers.
    Supervise and directs activities of Reliability engineers, technical personnel regarding reliability of equipment in their assigned areas of maintenance.
  • Provide oversight expertise regarding design, fabrication, repair, alteration, inspection and testing of equipment.
  • Prepare monthly activities report on electrical maintenance work for management.
  • Collaborate with lead technicians in problem solving to achieve total reliability in the most economical means.
  • Perform all necessary functions to complete Electrical Maintenance projects.
  • Perform regular audits of the work order system for volume, costs, flow, proper application of the priority hierarchy, and manpower usage.
  • Develop and maintain databases and hard files essential for the effective operation of the planning and scheduling areas of responsibility.
  • Develop and publish reports for management pertaining to costs, manpower utilization, productivity, reliability and forecasting. Reports will range from plant-wide all the way down to equipment-specific.
  • Develop and maintain systems to achieve a high focus upon PSM activities and initiatives regarding equipment reliability.
  • Prepares/Supplies drawings, sketches, specifications, procedures etc.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 10 years of electrical maintenance experience in a refinery or similar industry. 
  • Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero Three Rivers Refinery, required.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree. 
  • Prior supervisory experience.
