What is a vacation resort?

Vacation resorts are hospitality establishments that provide accommodations and a variety of recreational facilities designed for relaxation and leisure. They often offer amenities such as swimming pools, restaurants, spas, entertainment, and organized activities, all within a single property or location. Vacation resorts can be found in diverse settings, including beaches, mountains, and theme parks, catering to families, couples, and groups. Their goal is to create a convenient and enjoyable environment where guests can unwind and enjoy their time away from home.

What are some common challenges faced by employees working in a vacation resort, and how can new hires prepare for them?

Employees at vacation resorts often encounter challenges such as managing high guest volumes during peak seasons, adapting to fast-paced and dynamic environments, and ensuring consistent, high-quality customer service. New hires can prepare by developing strong communication skills, learning to multitask effectively, and familiarizing themselves with hospitality best practices. Teamwork is essential, as resort staff frequently collaborate across departments to address guest needs and create memorable experiences.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a vacation resort manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Vacation Resort Manager, you need strong leadership, hospitality management expertise, and typically a degree in hospitality or a related field. Familiarity with property management systems, booking software, and industry-standard certifications like CHA (Certified Hotel Administrator) are common requirements. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills help you exceed guest expectations and manage diverse teams. These competencies are vital to ensure seamless operations, guest satisfaction, and business success in a competitive hospitality environment.

Resort Manager

Full Time Kissimmee, FL, US

Requisition ID: 1156

Salary Range: $90,000.00 To $100,000.00 Annually

Resort Manager

Kissimmee, Florida

At andCo Hospitality, we believe great vacations turn into great stories, the kind guests remember, share, and come back for. Across our resorts in Florida, Colorado, and New Jersey, we create hospitality experiences that feel personal, thoughtful, and well-run.

We’re looking for a seasoned, guest-obsessed Resort Manager to lead one of our flagship Kissimmee-area properties — a large-scale, full-service resort with 400+ keys, active Food & Beverage operations, resort amenities, and the operational complexity of a high-volume hospitality environment.

This role is equal parts business leader, operational expert, and culture builder. You’ll own the performance of the resort, inspire the team, elevate the guest experience, and drive results across every department. If you’ve already led at this level and want to make a meaningful impact with a growing hospitality company, we’d love to meet you.

What You’ll Be Up To

Lead the Business

Own overall resort performance across guest satisfaction, financial results, team engagement, operational execution, and long-term asset care.

Drive revenue, manage expenses, improve efficiencies, and meet or exceed budgeted goals across all departments. Use financial reports, forecasts, labor productivity, guest feedback, and KPIs to make smart, timely decisions.

Partner with corporate leadership to develop and execute operational strategies, annual action plans, and property-level priorities.

Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve service consistency, strengthen team performance, and elevate the overall guest experience.

Anticipate challenges and act before they impact operations, team members, or guests.

Drive Food & Beverage Performance

Provide direct oversight of F&B operations and financial performance.

Hold the function to the same standards of excellence as every other department, from guest experience and staffing models to cost control, service consistency, and profitability.

Create Exceptional Guest Experiences

Ensure the resort consistently delivers safe, clean, welcoming, and well-maintained accommodations, amenities, and public spaces.

Monitor guest feedback and turn insights into action. Serve as a visible brand ambassador, building strong relationships with guests, owners, team members, vendors, and the local community.

Build & Lead a High-Performing Team

Recruit, develop, coach, and retain a motivated, service-driven team across Rooms, F&B, Engineering, Front Office, Housekeeping, and all operational departments.

Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, care, and continuous improvement. Set clear expectations and support professional growth at every level.

Deliver Operational Excellence

Maintain strong operational discipline across housekeeping, engineering, front office, F&B, safety, inventory, and resort amenities.

Protect resort assets through preventative maintenance, risk management, system-driven controls, and thoughtful long-term planning.

Ensure compliance with company standards, brand expectations, and all local, state, and federal regulations.

Champion Sustainability & Responsibility

Integrate sustainable practices into daily operations and long-term planning.

Promote responsible tourism that respects guests, team members, the community, and the environment.

  • Have led large-scale resort or full-service hotel operations. You’ve managed complex hospitality environments, ideally with 400+ keys, multiple departments, and high guest volume.
  • Own F&B from both sides of the P&L — You’ve had direct accountability for Food & Beverage operations and performance, not just exposure to it.
  • Run a tight operation across every department — Rooms, Engineering, F&B, Front Office, Housekeeping, and Amenities all matter to you. Operational discipline isn’t a talking point; it’s how you lead.
  • Use technology to drive results — You’re comfortable leveraging systems, reporting tools, PMS platforms, purchasing systems, and KPIs to improve efficiency and make smarter decisions.
  • Bring strong financial acumen — Budgeting, forecasting, labor management, expense control, and financial analysis are part of how you manage the business.
  • Understand complex resort environments — Experience with mixed-use resorts, ownership stakeholders, or condo-hotel operations is a plus, but not required.
  • Lead with integrity, calm, and heart — You’re confident and approachable, decisive under pressure, and the kind of leader people want to follow.

Ready to Lead Something That Matters?

This is an opportunity to make a real impact — on guests, team members, resort performance, and a growing hospitality company that values purpose as much as profit.

If you’re ready to lead with heart, think strategically, and drive operational excellence while keeping hospitality meaningful, we’d love to meet you.
