The Director of Warehouse Operations builds and leads a scalable, disciplined, high-performing warehouse organization. The ultimate goal is to build an operation that scales and performs reliably without depending on individual heroics.

Reports to:

Vice President of Operations and Logistics

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Organizational Leadership
    • Structure warehouse operations to support current multi-shift, 7-day needs and future expansion.
    • Define clear roles and build leadership depth across all core functions to eliminate operational gaps.
  • Leadership Development and Accountability
    • Coach and mentor managers and supervisors to drive accountability and address underperformance.
    • Establish development paths, clear expectations, and succession planning for critical positions.
  • Performance Management
    • Develop operational dashboards and KPIs tracking productivity, labor efficiency, quality, safety, and inventory accuracy.
    • Analyze performance trends to resolve operational risks before emergencies occur.
  • Process Improvement
    • Audit workflow from return to client-ready inventory to eliminate bottlenecks and wasted touches.
    • Standardize best practices and evaluate technology or facility upgrades to boost capacity and efficiency.
  • Quality Systems
    • Establish quality standards and inspection controls that stop defective equipment from reaching clients.
    • Analyze root causes of quality failures and enforce long-term corrective actions.
  • Workforce and Capacity Planning
    • Build workload-driven staffing models and schedule structures across shifts to control labor costs.
    • Partner with People & Culture on pipeline planning to ensure readiness for peak seasonal demands.
  • Strategic Planning
    • Formulate annual warehouse improvement goals, space planning, and capital investment recommendations.
    • Align departmental priorities to ensure long-term projects are completed alongside daily operations.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership
    • Partner with Logistics, Sales, Finance, and Executive Leadership to break down operational silos.
      • Maintain alignment so warehouse decisions directly support overall organizational goals.
  • Leadership of the Warehouse Operations Manager
    • Coach the Warehouse Operations Manager on daily execution while maintaining focus on strategic growth.
    • Provide structural support to insulate executive-level priorities from daily operational fires.
  • Measures of Success
    • Development of a strong, accountable supervisory bench.
    • Reduced reliance on emergency workarounds to sustain daily output.
    • Higher labor efficiency, improved quality, and lower overtime costs.
    • Reduced inventory errors, shortages, and preventable damage.
    • Increased operational capacity and seamless execution during peak seasons.
    • Consistent standards maintained across all shifts and days of operation.
Benefits:
  • Health, dental, vision, and 401(k) eligibility after 60 days.
  • 96 hours PTO annually (prorated based on hire date).
  • Employee rental discounts and referral program.
Ideal Leadership Profile
  • The successful Director of Warehouse Operations is:
  • Strategic, data-driven, and highly knowledgeable about warehouse logistics.
  • Skilled at building scalable systems, developing leaders, and holding teams accountable.
  • Persistent in addressing root causes rather than treating surface-level symptoms.
  • Focused on creating long-term operational performance over short-term quick fixes.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in warehouse, distribution, logistics, or rental operations.
  • Proven track record of managing leaders, implementing KPIs, and optimizing multi-shift/7-day operations.
  • Strong background in labor planning, process optimization, and operational budget management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Operations preferred (equivalent experience accepted).
