What is a virtual assistant?

Virtual Assistants (VAs) are professionals who provide administrative, technical, or creative support services to clients remotely, usually from a home office. Their tasks can include managing emails, scheduling appointments, handling customer inquiries, social media management, data entry, and more. VAs help businesses and entrepreneurs save time and increase productivity by taking on tasks that do not require their direct attention. With the rise of remote work, VAs have become an essential part of many organizations, offering flexible and cost-effective support.

What are some typical challenges a virtual assistant might face when supporting multiple clients remotely?

Virtual Assistants often juggle tasks for several clients simultaneously, which can make prioritization and time management challenging. Clear communication is essential to avoid misunderstandings and ensure that each client's expectations are met. Additionally, adapting quickly to different work styles and tools used by various clients can be demanding. Successful VAs develop strong organizational skills, maintain detailed schedules, and set clear boundaries to manage workload effectively.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a virtual assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Virtual Assistant, you need strong organizational abilities, time management, and proficiency in administrative tasks, often supported by experience or relevant training. Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, project management software, and communication platforms is typically required. Excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and adaptability are crucial soft skills that set top performers apart. These skills ensure efficient support for clients or teams, effective remote collaboration, and the ability to handle diverse tasks in a dynamic environment.

Hematology Oncology Physician
UVA Health | 57 Beam Ln #300, Fishersville, VA 22939
UVA Health is seeking a Hematology Oncology Physician to join our growing community oncology program. This is an exciting opportunity to provide comprehensive cancer care close to home while benefiting from the clinical expertise, advanced resources, and academic environment of an NCI-designated Cancer Center.
The Opportunity
The physician will provide comprehensive hematology and oncology care, including diagnosis, treatment planning, chemotherapy and infusion management, and follow-up care. You will collaborate with surgeons, radiation oncologists, primary care providers, APPs, nurses, and other specialists to provide coordinated, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities include:
New patient consultations, follow-up visits, and ongoing treatment management
Diagnosis and treatment of a broad range of hematologic and oncologic conditions
Management and oversight of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other infusion therapies
Review of laboratory, pathology, imaging, and other diagnostic results
Management of treatment-related toxicities and adverse reactions
Patient and family education regarding diagnosis and treatment options
Participation in weekly multidisciplinary tumor boards
Participation in clinical research, clinical trials, and quality improvement initiatives
Occasional inpatient oncology rounding, as needed, to support continuity of care
Shared rotating call schedule
The physician will primarily practice at our outpatient cancer care facility in Fishersville, VA, with occasional coverage at affiliated UVA Health hospitals, including University Medical Center, Prince William Medical Center, and/or Haymarket Medical Center.
Our Team
Join an established oncology practice with 8 physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, nurses, and a patient navigator, supported by social workers, nutritionists, palliative care specialists, and hospice services through UVA Health.
Why UVA Health?
This position offers the best of both worlds: the resources of an NCI-designated Cancer Center and leading academic medical center with the personal impact of community-based oncology care.
Highlights include:
Opportunity to help shape and grow a developing community oncology program
Strong clinical, administrative, and executive support
Collaborative, physician-focused culture
Access to advanced oncology resources, teaching conferences, Grand Rounds, and CME
Competitive compensation and incentive opportunities
Comprehensive benefits package
Generous time off and CME policies
Ideal Candidate
We welcome applications from experienced hematology oncologists and recent fellowship graduates who are committed to high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care.
The ideal candidate will:
Be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology/Oncology
Have a strong foundation in medical oncology and the management of a broad range of cancers
Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills
Be committed to lifelong learning and professional development
Value collaboration and mentorship
Be enthusiastic about helping grow oncology services in the community
A Virginia medical license will be required prior to the start of employment.
Compensation
The base compensation range for this role is $434,001-$671,007 for a 1.0 clinical FTE. Individual compensation will be determined based on fair market value and the selected candidate's qualifications, clinical experience, specialty training, credentials, and/or education.
The stated compensation range does not include applicable incentive compensation programs, which may include productivity, quality, non-productivity, or other incentives available to eligible positions.
Join UVA Health and help expand access to exceptional cancer care while building a rewarding career within a supportive, collaborative oncology program.
