Job description

We have the exclusive contract at the VA in Albuquerque, NM with 2 Anesthesiologists onsite already, and the facility requested one (1) more provider.

LOCATION: Raymond G. Murphy VA Medical Center (VAMC) 1501 San Pedro Blvd SE Albuquerque, NM 87108

START DATE / DURATION:

  • Begin asap (Note: There is leeway for notice to your current employer, credentialing, etc.)
  • 6-month contract, with options to extend (Note: The duration of the contract is between the government and us. Like any other job, if life means you must leave, you give us a 60-day notice.)

COMPENSATION:

  • $450/hr.
  • 1099, all-inclusive
  • We cover Med Mal (claims made + 3yr tail)

SCHEDULE:

  • Day Shift: Mon Thur 06:30-1500 and Fri 07:30-1630. They are adding a swing shift to rotate though as well (Estimated 80 hours every two weeks except for weeks with Federal Holidays as they are closed)
  • No call, no weekends, no holidays.
  • The schedule is made for a quarter at a time and is typically published 1.5 months prior to the start of the next quarter.
  • Request vacation/time off 45 days in advance

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Citizen of the United States
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible by the ABA (new grads OK)
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state
  • Must be able to pass a Government background security check (no record of criminal offenses or substantiated incidents of patient abuse)

MODEL:

  • Anesthesiologists may personally administer anesthesia or may clinically supervise CRNAs.
  • Facility describes this as a modified anesthesia care model, incorporating independent CRNA practice, supervising CRNAs, and Anesthesiologists working solo when required

DEPARTMENT:

  • 9 ORs
  • 5 out of OR locations (GI, Cath lab, bronchoscopy, ECTs, and interventional radiology)
  • The department is made up of 6 Anesthesiologists and 10 CRNAs (a fully staffed department is 9 Anesthesiologists and 10 CRNAs.
  • Staffed daily are 2-4 Anesthesiologists and 7-8 CRNAs.
  • Charting system: PICIS

CASE VOLUME:

  • Average 10-20 anesthetic cases daily, which includes anesthesia for procedures such as colonoscopies and ECTs.

CASE TYPES:

  • Ex lap, lap chole, lap appy, Nissen fundiplication, robotic assisted ventral and inguinal hernias, cataract surgery, bread and butter, orthopedic surgery, robotic hysterectomy, cochlear implant, parathyroidectomy, functional endoscopic sinus surgery, cystoscopy, robotic assisted nephrectomy, spinal cord stim placement, kyphoplasty, bronchoscopies, EBUS, ultrasound guided regional anesthesia,
  • Vascular: Facility is actively pursuing a vascular surgery contract with the university hospital. They will likely be resuming sometime during 2025 surgeries such as CEAs, EVARs, AV fistula creations.
  • Cardiothoracic (CABG, lobectomies, VATS): NOT expected to staff these cases
  • Neuro, Transplants, Trauma: Not done at this facility
