The opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for an Underwriting Assistant to join our Operations team based in our Salem, VA; Farmington, CT or Denver. CO office. This job provides basic technical services and administrative support for Intact’s underwriters. Some of the Underwriting Assistant responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for sorting, routing, and processing all incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Types and proofreads documents as needed.  Scans and attaches documentation into underwriting system.
  • Orders various reports, such as MVR’s and ISO rate surveys, as applicable.
  • Processes policy filings, cancellation notices, reinstatement notices, and other insurance-related documents as required, while adhering to time service standards.
  • Handles conditional renewal notices processing in accordance with state requirements.
  • Processes incoming new business submissions, while adhering to time service standards.   Processes incoming endorsement requests, including referrals to underwriting and may process basic endorsement transactions.
  • Assists with special projects as needed. 

The expertise you bring

  • High School diploma required, with demonstrated experience.
  • 0 - 2 years of business experience. Exposure to insurance is a plus!

Our salary ranges are determined by many factors including location, role, experience, and skillset of the candidate. The following salary displayed reflect the target base salary for new hires, but your recruiter will share more specific compensation information with you during the hiring process. The base salary for this position is: $50,000, based on the factors aforementioned. In addition to base salary, full time Intact employees are also eligible for bonus potential and a full range of benefits to include:
