Job description

Position Title: Piano/Organ Player
Location: VA San Diego Healthcare System Chapel, 3350 La Jolla Village Drive, San Diego, CA 92161
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide piano and/or organ accompaniment for:
    • Catholic Mass services (approx. 52 hours/year)
    • Protestant Worship services (approx. 52 hours/year)
    • Special worship services/events (approx. 6 hours/year)
  • Coordinate musical selections with the Chaplain or designated worship leader.
  • Arrive at scheduled services on time and fully prepared.
  • Perform preludes, postludes, hymns, responses, and other liturgical musical pieces required for each service.
  • Attend rehearsals or run-throughs as needed to ensure smooth service execution.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Demonstrated proficiency in piano and organ performance.
  • Strong understanding of Catholic and/or Protestant liturgical music traditions.
  • Prior experience providing worship music in a chapel, church, or similar setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Formal training in music performance or liturgical music.
  • Experience working with Veterans or in military/VA chapel environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret a wide variety of sacred mus
