You will translate and/or transcribe intermediate to advanced-level printed materials, including but not limited to: technical manuals, foreign language periodicals, and audio files into correct grammatical American English. You will work either lead or be part of a team of linguists supporting CONUS and/or OCONUS operations. **More About the Role:**## **Translation, You will*** ## Accurately translate reports/texts in electronic and hard-copy formats that contain facts and some abstract language showing an ability to capture intended implications and many nuances.* ## Generally capture geopolitical, regional, ethnic, and cultural elements in text. Word choice and expression generally adhere to target language norms and means of expression specific to subject field(s) and are strong enough to allow translator to operate successively in that field.**Interpretation, You will:*** Interpret accurately. Typically, consecutive interpretation is needed, but simultaneous interpretation (English to Russian, Kazak to English, etc.) may be requested on occasions.* Has a good understanding of one or more regional dialects.**Transcription, You will:*** Review audio or internet materials and transcribes with a high degree of accuracy and expression.* Possess excellent English-language written communication skills for preparing reports.* Has a good understanding of one or more regional dialects.# **You will Bring These Qualifications:*** Ability to pass an advanced English test* # **Active TS/SCI Clearance with adjudicated Polygraph*** ## **Bachelors Degree*** Ability to score ILR Level 3 or higher on target language translation test* **Minimum five (5) years’ professional experience conducting translation, transcription, translation, and/or interpretation*** In-depth knowledge of the geopolitical, regional, ethnic, and cultural components of target language geographical areas* Master use of MS Office and internet research**These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:*** Previous military experience* Has good understanding of one or more regional dialects* Consecutive and/or simultaneous interpretation abilitiesThis position is contingent on funding and may not be filled immediately.
