Job description

Blenderbox is seeking a UX Strategist to lead experience strategy for complex, policy-driven digital projects. This role is responsible for shaping how information, interactions, content, and underlying systems come together to create clear, usable, and trustworthy digital services.
As a UX Strategist at Blenderbox, you will work across multiple client projects-often in government, education, and other regulated environments-partnering closely with project managers, designers, and engineers to translate requirements into cohesive UX and content strategies that are grounded in real technical constraints.
This is a strategy-led, project-based full-time role within our agency practice. It is not a UI-first design role and is not tied to a single product.
What You'll Do
  • Lead stakeholder research, discovery interviews, and requirements gathering to inform UX and experience strategy
  • Synthesize user needs, business goals, policy constraints, and technical considerations into clear experience direction
  • Define experience principles, success criteria, and structural approaches for digital products and services
  • Develop and own UX artifacts including personas, user journeys, service blueprints, workflows, and information architecture
  • Define content strategy as part of the overall UX approach, focusing on content structure, hierarchy, sequencing, and clarity
  • Create and document content models that support scalable, reusable, and accessible user experiences
  • Define UX and content strategies that account for underlying data models, CMS structures, system integrations, and technical constraints
  • Shape UX strategy for CMS-backed and data-driven digital systems, including public-facing experiences and supporting administrative or operational interfaces
  • Collaborate with UX/UI Product Designers to ensure design systems and component patterns align with experience strategy, content models, and system requirements
  • Review and guide design work to ensure usability, accessibility, and alignment with requirements and constraints
  • Collaborate with engineers and technical leads to ensure UX and content strategies are feasible and well-integrated into technical solutions
  • Participate in client workshops and presentations, clearly communicating experience decisions, tradeoffs, and rationale
What We're Looking For
  • Significant experience (typically 8+ years) in UX strategy, experience design, or a related discipline
  • A portfolio or body of work demonstrating experience strategy, systems thinking, and UX decision-making (not just visual design)
  • Strong experience conducting stakeholder research and synthesizing qualitative inputs into actionable strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to define information architecture and content models for complex systems
  • Experience shaping UX strategy for CMS-backed and data-driven digital systems, including administrative or operational interfaces
  • Working knowledge of how content models, data structures, roles, permissions, and system constraints influence user experience
  • Comfort collaborating across UX, design, and technical domains
  • Strong communication skills, including presenting strategy to non-design stakeholders
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design practices
  • Experience working in government, education, healthcare, or other regulated environments is a plus
How You Work
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and skilled at bringing structure to complexity
  • You think in systems, not just screens or features
  • You see content and data as core components of user experience
  • You balance ideal user experiences with real-world policy and technical constraints
  • You collaborate generously and communicate clearly across disciplines
  • You approach UX as a strategic practice, not just a design output
Tools & Practices
  • Experience creating UX and content strategy artifacts (journeys, IA, content models, conceptual frameworks)
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms and how content and data structures are implemented in digital products
  • Comfort working within iterative, project-based delivery environments
  • Ability to engage meaningfully in technical conversations without writing code
Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this role is $115,000-$150,000, depending on experience and alignment with the responsibilities described above. We offer benefits package for full-time employees that includes health coverage, paid time off, and retirement contributions. Additional details will be shared during the interview process.
What We Offer
Blenderbox offers a remote work environment with competitive compensation and benefits, opportunities to work on meaningful public-sector projects, and a collaborative team culture that values thoughtful strategy, clear communication, and continuous learning.
