Job description

As a UX Designer at Big Happy, you'll help shape the experience of a growing suite of products used across the entire campaign lifecycle. From Sellers and Strategists to Account Managers, Programmatic teams, Designers, and Finance, our products support a wide range of users with complex workflows and unique needs.

You'll partner closely with Product and Engineering to turn those workflows into thoughtful, intuitive experiences that make our users' jobs easier. We're looking for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, asks thoughtful questions, and is excited to contribute to products that continue to evolve alongside our business.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role isn't measured by the number of screens you design-it's measured by the impact your work has on our users and your ability to collaborate with the team.

A successful UX Designer at Big Happy:
  • Owns features from discovery through delivery with guidance from the UX Manager.
  • Designs experiences that balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
  • Builds confidence presenting work and explaining design decisions.
  • Asks thoughtful questions to fully understand users before proposing solutions.
  • Contributes new ideas and patterns to the Big Happy Design System.
  • Partners effectively with Product and Engineering throughout the design and development process.
  • Continuously looks for ways to improve workflows across our products.
Design & Problem Solving
  • Translate complex business workflows into intuitive UX and UI solutions.
  • Create user flows, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and final designs.
  • Design polished, production-ready interfaces that align with our Design System.
  • Think beyond individual screens to create seamless end-to-end experiences.
  • Iterate on designs based on stakeholder feedback and usability findings.
Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Product Managers and Engineers throughout the design process.
  • Present design work clearly and confidently while explaining the reasoning behind decisions.
  • Ask thoughtful questions to uncover user needs, business goals, and technical considerations.
  • Participate in informal usability testing and incorporate feedback into future iterations.
Design System
  • Contribute to the continued evolution of the Big Happy Design System.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing components and propose new patterns.
  • Help maintain consistency across products through thoughtful application of the design system.
Growth
  • Continue expanding UX knowledge through research, learning, and experimentation.
  • Seek feedback and use it to continuously improve.
  • Explore emerging design tools-including AI-powered workflows and advanced prototyping-to improve efficiency and communication.
How You'll Work
Our designers work closely with Product and Engineering from concept through implementation. Collaboration is a huge part of our process-we value curiosity, open communication, and a willingness to work through problems together.

We move quickly, but we also take the time to understand the "why" behind what we're building. We believe the best ideas come from asking thoughtful questions, challenging assumptions, and learning from one another.
  • 2-3 years of UX/Product Design experience.
  • Strong UX, interaction design, and visual design skills with the ability to create polished, production-ready interfaces.
  • Experience designing end-to-end user experiences, including user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes.
  • Comfortable presenting design work, explaining design decisions, and incorporating feedback from stakeholders.
  • Experience partnering closely with Product Managers and Engineers throughout the design and development process.
  • Experience designing accessible platforms is a plus.
  • Experience working within and contributing to a design system.
  • Proficiency with Figma and familiarity with modern prototyping tools.
  • A curiosity for learning and a desire to continuously grow as a designer.

  • Full-time position with a competitive base salary
  • Access to benefits, including Healthcare, Dental, and Vision
  • Unlimited PTO - take what you need
  • HSA/FSA match program
  • Participation in Big Happy's stock program
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Half Day Fridays (except Q4)
  • Team Happy camaraderie-celebrating wins, learning from challenges, and fostering continuous career growth
  • A workplace culture where you can be yourself, contribute meaningfully, and be valued for your impact
Location:
NYC + hybrid wfh (3 days per week in office)

Compensation:
$85,000-105,000 - This range includes base salary and bonuses and represents the total compensation range.
