  • Apply accessibility and usability standards and advocate for inclusive design
  • Collaborate with PMs and Engineers to shape product direction and prioritize design efforts
  • Conduct and lead usability testing, incorporating findings into strategic design iterations
  • Mentor designers across pods and contribute to design standards and team rituals
  • Design solutions to unfamiliar problems using appropriate UX processes and tools while conforming to established standards and guidelines
  • Effectively conceptualize, collaborate, and communicate with customers, stakeholders, and team members to achieve project goals
  • Advocate for design and engineering best practices to deliver modern and performant experiences
  • Become proficient with the existing feature set for your assigned product, particularly the most common workflows for each customer persona
  • Work autonomously and think strategically to identify areas of opportunity within your assigned product
  • Contribute to and maintain existing visual and UX patterns in our design system and in our product to ensure a consistent, intuitive experience
  • Provide design feedback and mentorship to other designers
  • Coordinate the creation of usability studies on a variety of projects and product features

Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Proficient with common UX design and research tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe CC, UserZoom, UserTesting.com, or Maze.
  • Clear understanding of current mobile and web technologies; understanding of desktop technologies is a bonus.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including concept pitches and storytelling.
  • Ability to guide projects from concept to delivery and ongoing improvement.
  • Confident in designing reusable UX components or libraries.
  • Advocate for planning and executing effective customer research.
  • Ability to simplify complex information and find creative solutions.

  • Eagerness to engage with and understand quantitative and qualitative data at scale.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, certificate, or equivalent training in user experience design or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in user experience design or a related field, including experience providing design feedback or informal mentorship to other designers
  • A portfolio demonstrating strong UX skills and judgment, including examples of end-to-end ownership of complex or ambiguous problems
  • Proficient with common UX design and research tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe CC, UserZoom, UserTesting.com, or Maze, and able to evaluate and recommend new tools as the practice evolves
  • Deep proficiency in UX processes — prototypes, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, information architecture, process flows, and user flows — with the judgment to choose the right process for the problem
  • Independently plans and drives customer research, and can direct research efforts to inform design decisions
  • Demonstrated leadership in an interactive design process across cross-functional teams, including synthesizing and acting on feedback from multiple stakeholders
  • Confident owning and evolving reusable UX components or design system libraries, including decisions about when to extend versus create new patterns
  • Clear understanding of current mobile, web, and desktop technologies
  • Demonstrated experience owning end-to-end UX strategy for a product area, working with minimal oversight
  • Designs scalable, coherent experiences across products, with an eye toward systems-level consistency
