Job Position: Print Equipment Operator (NIGHTS)
Job Location: Stone Mountain, GA
Reports To: Production Shift Supervisor
Job Summary:
The Print Equipment Operator is responsible for print operator machine, training, adjustments, repairs, and troubleshooting. Operates multiple print equipment machines that produces printed disposable foam cups, bowls or containers. Ensures basic mechanical diagnoses and follows safety and GMP processes. Adheres to daily operational targets and customer demands.
Core Job Responsibilities:
  • Runs multiple print machines to produce foam cups and/or other foam customer products.
  • Continuously ensures that only quality product is printed and enters the packing area by constantly monitoring product quality. Immediately stops production in the event inferior product is being produced.
  • Compares products to sample cups for quality product.
  • Monitors work order status and shut down printers at appropriate time.
  • Cleaning plates and adding appropriate amount of ink as required ensuring quality product.
  • Diagnose and determine cause for machine and/or print problems. Make adjustments for color.
  • Preparing for and assisting with change-over while ensuring that the proper change-over parts are installed and adjustments are made to specifications.
  • Cleaning change-over parts removed during a print change and returns them to the print storage area along with tagging any defective parts.
  • Monitor for an adequate supply of inks, labels and bulk products by the print machines to facilitate production.
  • Perform daily cleaning of the print machines such as cleaning inside / outside of printer.
  • Comply with all safety rules, polices, procedures and practices to include performing lock-out/tag-out of print equipment as required.
  • Inform the print mechanic and/or shift supervisor or change over technician when assistance is required.
  • Maintain, change film, clean jams of bagger and check for bagger safety estops.
  • Perform hourly checks as required to ensure Safety, Quality and Line Performance.
  • Provides assistance to other Print Equipment Operators while ensuring standardization of optimal productivity targeted levels.
  • Responsible for communicating to the supervisor immediately of any failure to meet established quality standards.
  • Perform all work in a safe manner to include performing lock-out/tag-out of equipment before making any repairs.
  • Communicate with supervisors and co-workers on the status of equipment.
  • Maintains housekeeping standards by keeping a clean and safe work area at all times.
  • Attend meeting and training session as required.
  • Participates in the training of new team members.
  • Performs additional assignments and/or special projects that may require additional customer demands.

  • Adheres to all good manufacturing practices (GMP), safety, HACCP and SQF requirements; rectify and/or report any and all non-compliance to the supervisor or the SQF practitioner immediately.

  • Ability to follow directives with STM leadership, managers, supervisors, in ensuring productivity and target levels are sustained.
  • Ensures all company policies and procedures including manufacturing and safety policies and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Collaboration with plant, safety, and leadership.
  • Ability to complete mandated new manufacturing training on equipment to maximize output efficiencies.
  • Supports all current and new product modifications and introductions.

Education and Qualifications:
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • At least two years' experience in a manufacturing environment tending a production machines for print.
  • Mechanical aptitude of sound judgement.
  • Mathematical knowledge.
  • Basic PC skills including Excel and use of web based applications to use FedEx, UPS and print labels.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English in order to complete job specific paperwork.
  • Ability to work independently and function as a team member.
  • Good planning and organizing skills.
  • Work mandatory overtime, early morning, late evenings and weekends when required during busy season, inventory, and for vacation coverage.

Working Conditions:
  1. In-doors in a manufacturing and/or environment that is not air-conditioned.
  2. Exposure to extreme heat.
  3. Wear PPE while working which includes hairnet, hearing protection and safety glasses with side guards.
  4. May work 12 hour shift that begins at 6:50 p.m. for nightshift.
  5. Required to work weekdays, weekends and overtime as needed.
  6. Subject to on-call activity to ensure equipment is functional.

Physical Demands:
  1. Work 12-hour shift while standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, grasping and lifting throughout the entire shift.
  2. Requires the manual movement of cases of finished goods and other objects such as bagger film that weight up to 40 pounds.
  3. 100% tobacco free workplace on all Company premises. Designated outside smoking area provided and must be followed.
