Job description

The mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).
JOB SUMMARY:
Provides for the routine operation and minor maintenance of Correctional Managed Care vehicles in the transportation of materials or passengers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Transfers patients and other assigned passengers on and/or off-campus, assisting them in entering and exiting vehicle.
  • Delivers and/or retrieves materials as instructed.
  • Assists in the loading and unloading of materials from vehicle.
  • Maintains daily log of mileage, number of trips, passengers/cargo, destination, and fuel and oil consumption.
  • Inspects condition of assigned vehicle on a regular basis with regard to oil, fuel, tires, and water.
  • Reports any needed adjustments or repairs to supervisors.
  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure established for department.
  • Performs related duties as required.
EQUIPMENT:
Operation of vehicles, including trucks or vans.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Located within the confines of a prison, jail or juvenile detention center. Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Completion of defensive driver course within 30 days of hire.
  • Must possess current Texas Class "C" driver's license.

Drives vehicles under adverse weather conditions and other emergency driving situations.
Salary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience.
