Utility Construction Worker - Union Position
Seattle, WA
Full-Time | Monday-Friday Day Shift

CenTrio is hiring a Utility Construction Worker to support the maintenance, repair, and construction of our underground steam distribution system in Seattle.
This is a full-time union position offering excellent benefits, long-term stability, overtime opportunities, and hands-on work supporting critical energy infrastructure throughout the city.
Candidates with backgrounds in pipefitting, steam fitting, underground utilities, mechanical construction, welding, or industrial maintenance are encouraged to apply.
What You'll Do
  • Perform maintenance and repair work on underground steam distribution systems
  • Cut, fit, thread, and install piping
  • Repair and maintain valves, steam traps, and insulation systems
  • Perform excavation, trenching, and confined space work safely
  • Operate and work around heavy equipment and mechanical systems
  • Support emergency repairs and system maintenance activities
  • Perform welding work when qualified and assigned
  • Follow all safety procedures and utility work practices

Preferred Experience
  • Pipefitting or steam fitting experience
  • Underground utility or industrial maintenance experience
  • Welding experience, especially pressure piping or ASME welding
  • Experience working in confined spaces, trenching, or excavation
  • Traffic control or flagging experience
  • Mechanical construction background

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Class A CDL required
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to safely perform physically demanding work
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Willingness to work overtime, nights, weekends, or holidays as needed

Additional Preferred Certifications
  • CPR / First Aid training
  • Confined Space Entry training
  • Shoring and trenching experience
  • Welding certifications
