Job description

Meriwether Godsey is looking for a Full-time Utility Steward/Dishwasher at an independent school located in the heart of Northwest Washington, DC. Must be able to work as follows: Monday-Friday 7:30 am-3:30 pm

  • Day Time Hours
  • Full Time
  • Free Meals
  • Uniforms Provided
  • $18.00 PH

 What the Utility Steward/Dishwasher will do:  

  • Set up and operate dish-machine for cleaning and sanitizing dishes, trays, silverware, glassware, pots and pans: scrape, separate, and organize items  
  • Note and record dish-machine temperatures, reporting low temperatures or machine malfunctions immediately  
  • Transport related supplies and assist in setup of dining and serving areas  
  • Clean dining and serving areas throughout and after meal period and replenish to ensure service without interruption  
  • Setup and use three - compartment sink for cleaning and sanitizing pots and pans  
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas, to include sweeping, mopping floors and removal of trash  
  • Assist with receiving and storage of food products and food preparation following correct food handling procedures to ensure food safety  
  • Perform all duties in accordance with food safety and sanitation best practices  
  • Other duties, as assigned
       

What the Utility Steward/Dishwasher will need:     

  • Must be able to pass an FBI background check 
  • Previous utility/dishwasher experience required  
  • Ability to measure products and convert units of measure  
  • Awareness of commercial kitchen equipment and how to perform routine maintenance and cleaning; work with sanitizing and cleaning chemicals 
  • Reliability and a willingness to work in a hot, humid environment   
  • Good communication skills and a great attitude
