Description Job Summary This is moderate to heavy manual work involving the installation and maintenance of water utility service equipment.

Work is performed and reviewed under the supervision of the Water Supervisor in conjunction with the Water division. This position requires after hours work and stand by status frequently. Job Responsibilities Perform installation and maintenance duties on water utility lines and other water equipment such as taps and water meters.

Troubleshoots and makes emergency repairs at all hours to water utilities as required. Operates light duty truck in delivering goods and equipment to field site. Investigates and adjusts complaints on water utility services.

Must effectively and positively represents the City in delivering and performing work with colleagues and clients, irrespective of gender, race, religion, age, disability, political affiliation or belief, or sexual orientation. Must establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with work colleagues, supervisors and managers. Some night and weekend work is required.

Performs all other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Qualifications Some knowledge of modern principles, practices, and techniques utilized for the installation and maintenance of various aspects of water/sewer utility systems. Demonstrate skill in the use of required tools and equipment Good knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade; Ability to carry out oral and written instructions; ability to communicate effectively with others.

Possession of valid Florida license Education Must have a high school diploma or equivalent One (1) year experience in performing moderate to heavy manual labor, preferably in the underground utility services area. Must possess a Level 3 FDEP water distribution operator's license within eighteen (18) months of hire. Physical Requirements Willingness to perform manual work and the ability to lift heavy objects.

Possess the physical strength and agility to work outdoors under adverse weather conditions. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Driver's License: With proof of automobile insurance Background Check: Must have an acceptable background record Driving Abstract: Must have an acceptable driving record PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical abilities described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
