Aecon Industrial leads the way in industrial construction with a proven track record of safely delivering a broad range of project solutions for our clients - from fabrication and modularization to new builds, turnarounds and maintenance. Aecon Industrial provides its clients with a vertically integrated solution, self-performing all disciplines of work.

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager - Data Centers to lead the successful delivery of large-scale mission-critical construction projects. The successful candidate will oversee all phases of project execution, from preconstruction and procurement through commissioning and client turnover, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This role is ideal for a construction leader who has direct experience delivering data center, mission-critical, or similarly complex infrastructure projects and who thrives in fast-paced, highly technical environments.

Please Note: The successful candidate must be willing and able to mobilize to project sites across Alberta and other project locations as required.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Lead the execution of mission-critical data center construction projects, ensuring alignment with client operational, reliability, and performance requirements.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary scopes including civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, communications, and commissioning activities.
  • Manage construction activities associated with critical power and cooling infrastructure, including substations, generators, UPS systems, switchgear, mechanical cooling systems, and supporting utility infrastructure.
  • Collaborate closely with owners, consultants, commissioning agents, equipment vendors, and trade partners throughout project execution.
  • Lead constructability reviews, sequencing planning, shutdown coordination, and turnover readiness activities.Ensure successful completion of integrated systems testing, commissioning, startup, and client handover milestones.
  • Drive schedule performance on fast-track project delivery models where procurement, engineering, and construction activities occur concurrently.
  • Monitor procurement and delivery of long-lead equipment critical to project execution.
  • Support the proposal/estimating team to provide a quality submission that is both competitive and achievable.
  • Lead the transition from estimating and preconstruction into project execution, ensuring alignment on scope, schedule, budget, risk, and resource planning.
  • Manage stakeholder communications across multiple disciplines while maintaining focus on quality, schedule, safety, and operational readiness.
  • Demonstrate commercial acumen to control costs and improve margins.
  • Enforce timely change management practices.
  • Accurately forecast and report performance (e.g., safety, schedule, cost, and quality).
  • Identify, mitigate, and manage project risks.
  • Effectively negotiate and execute contracts in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Manage and foster all stakeholder relations (e.g., Owner, Regulators, Subcontractors, Suppliers, etc.).
  • Chair project management meetings with a focus on the best outcomes for Aecon.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • 10+ years of construction experience with at least 5 years in project management or leadership positions.
  • Proven experience delivering data center, mission-critical, advanced technology, healthcare, semiconductor, high-tech manufacturing, or other highly technical infrastructure projects.
  • Previous experience with a general contractor managing full lifecycle projects valued at $100M+.
  • Strong understanding of mission-critical facility construction including electrical distribution, backup power systems, cooling systems, telecommunications infrastructure, and commissioning requirements.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary construction scopes including civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and commissioning activities.
  • Proven success managing complex procurement strategies and long-lead equipment packages.
  • Strong knowledge of project controls, contract administration, cost management, change management, forecasting, and risk management.
  • Experience working within fast-track construction environments and milestone-driven project schedules.
  • Post-secondary education in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Trades, or an equivalent discipline.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and support site-based execution across Alberta and other project locations.
