Job description

Scot Forge is seeking to hire an experienced Structural focused Engineer to take the lead on the charge towards many expansions within our manufacturing facilities. The position requires the knowledge and ability to layout, design, and manage the development of building structures, foundations, and site civil needs. Essential to this role is substantial project management of outside and inside contractors for cost effective and timely installations.

Position Shift and Location:
In-Person based in Spring Grove, IL with occasional travel to Franklin Park, IL and Clinton, WI.
Monday - Friday 7AM - 5PM
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Layout functional building/plant layouts and design reliable foundations for unique pieces of machinery.
  • Use SolidWorks & 2D CAD for the layout, design and documentation of building structures, plant/equipment layouts, and plant utilities.
  • Project Analysis - determine project feasibility and develop/generate budget and project ROI.
  • Detail specifications for bid packages, obtain quotations, negotiation of price and delivery, contract review.
  • Authorization submittal, and awards contract to vendors (buildings, foundations, utilities, site civil, and plant cranes).
  • Develops and maintains visual schedules for building/foundation projects (MS Project).
  • General contractor - schedule and instructs the work performed by various sub-contractors for plant building and office projects.
  • Direct internal personnel for the installation/assembly of designs performed.
  • Oversees the quality and safety of external contractors work for the installation of buildings, foundations and utilities (HVAC, Plumbing, & Railroad).
  • Responsible for the modification, redesign and repair of existing structures.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of building structural design and heavy machinery foundation design.
  • Knowledge of plant utilities, civil engineering, building codes, and environmental codes.
  • Corporate position responsible for the architectural/structural needs of all three plants (along with two joint venture plants).
  • Designs meet/exceed respective codes: Analysis, validation, and due diligence is performed to ensure quality of design with (first and foremost) plant and personnel safety.
  • Assist with mechanical designs (SolidWorks)
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • BS in Architectural / Structural Engineering or related degree and minimum of five years of Structural Engineering
  • Strong Project Management skills (degree and/or experience)
  • Knowledge of crane code manufacturing (CMAA)
  • Knowledge of permitting, building codes and standards
  • Proficient in structural blueprint reading & 2D CAD generation.
  • Proficient skills in MS office (MS Project)
  • Excellent communication skills, organization, and detail oriented

The estimated pay range for this position is the lowest and highest range we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We ultimately may pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. The actual pay offered to a candidate will depend on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, qualifications, education, certifications, seniority, geographic location and prevailing minimum wage, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs.
