The Utilities Engineer โ€“ Coordination and Interface Management is responsible for the identification, coordination, and resolution of interfaces between the High-Speed Rail (HSR) project and existing utility infrastructure, utility owners, and municipalities.

The role includes managing utility-related data, including Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) information across all quality levels (Quality Levels (QL-D to QL-A)), Geographic Information System (GIS) data, legacy records, and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) models.

The position requires active participation in stakeholder coordination, supporting the definition of conflict resolution strategies and ensuring that third-party designs are aligned with agreed requirements, schedule, and project constraints.

It covers both:

ยท         The engineering of existing conditions (data collection, validation, and constraint identification);

ยท         The engineering of proposed solutions, through coordination with stakeholders to define, challenge, agree upon, and validate utility conflict resolution strategies.


Key Responsibilities:

ยท         Coordinate with utility owners, municipalities, and third parties on a day-to-day basis

ยท         Capture, validate, and track stakeholder requirements and constraints

ยท         Support the collection, validation, and integration of utility data (SUE QL-D to QL-A, GIS, legacy records)

ยท         Identify utility conflicts and support their assessment

ยท         Contribute to ensuring the accuracy and completeness of utility data

ยท         Participate in the development of conflict resolution strategies (relocation, protection, accommodation)

ยท         Coordinate with internal design teams (structural, track, etc) for conflict resolution

ยท         Review third-party proposals and identify inconsistencies or risks

ยท         Support validation of proposed solutions against project requirements

ยท         Track progress of third-party design and provide visibility on status and issues

ยท         Ensure utility data and solutions are properly integrated into project models (CAD/3D environments)

ยท         Support risk identification and mitigation efforts

ยท         Maintain coordination records, decision logs, and interface tracking tools

ยท         Support interface management processes and overall coordination activities


Requirements

ยท         5โ€“10 years of experience in utilities coordination, infrastructure projects, or interface management

ยท         Experience working with utility owners, municipalities, and third parties

ยท         Experience working on transit and rail infrastructure projects

ยท         Working knowledge of Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) (QL-D to QL-A)

ยท         Understanding of utility relocation, protection, and accommodation strategies

ยท         Experience with utility data integration (GIS, CAD, legacy records)

ยท         Experience supporting design coordination or reviewing third-party deliverables

ยท         Experience in large infrastructure or linear projects is an asset

Salary Range for this role is approx $90,000 - $110,000
