Job description

Sixense, Inc. is looking for an Project Engineer to strengthen their capacity to deploy structural and geotechnical Instrumentation. The job specific Project Engineer will be responsible for supporting the successful execution of Instrumentation & Geotechnical monitoring projects by combining field operations, project coordination, and client support in the Pittsburgh, PA area.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Summary

  • Under the supervision of the Project Manager, performs tasks related to the specialty, in accordance with the company policies, methods, and practices.
  • Responsible for quality control and technical issues on a given project or assignment. Provide technical, design, quality control and managerial support to Project Managers in running projects.
  • Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the successful execution of Instrumentation & Geotechnical monitoring projects by combining field operations, project coordination, and client support.

Main role

  • Coordinate and perform the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and removal of monitoring instrumentation.
  • Plan and oversee field activities, including subcontractors, drilling operations, permitting, utility locates, and site logistics.
  • Prepare project submittals, work plans, material procurement, project documentation, and as-built records.
  • Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, change orders, claims, and project reporting.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and communicate issues and solutions to the District Manager.
  • Attend client meetings, provide technical support, and assist with presentations and project updates.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company policies, client specifications, applicable regulations, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate field records and prepare technical reports summarizing field activities and instrumentation performance.
  • Support the Project Manager and District Manager with project execution and assume Junior Project Manager responsibilities as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Health & Safety

  • Be an active participant and key stakeholder in Sixense’s Health and Safety Program; helping to contribute to a positive safety culture.
  • Ensure knowledge of all necessary safe operating procedures before commencing your task.
  • Immediately report any incidents, infractions, or near misses to the Project Manager and the HSE Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Civil/Geotech Preferred) or related degree.
  • Experience (Minimum 2-4 years) with construction equipment, techniques, drawings, specifications, building materials, surveying, design, or geotechnical work. years of experience.
  • OSHA 10-hour safety training
  • Driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Completion of first aid courses and CPR.
  • MS Word, Excel and Outlook relative to reporting site construction and activities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift, carry, pull and push at least 40 pounds
  • Travel per the company travel policy, often overnight and away from home
  • Able to concentrate at a high degree in a busy and noisy construction environment
  • Able to work in all types of weather
