Job Summary
The Underground (UG) Distribution Foreman is an experienced and safety-oriented role that leads and supervises underground electric utility crews. This role is critical in ensuring field operations run efficiently, safely, and according to schedule. The Distribution Foreman will bring leadership, underground utility knowledge, and a strong work ethic to support our growing infrastructure projects.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide direct supervision and technical guidance to Linemen, Apprentices, and Groundmen
  • Coordinate all on-site operations, including crew mobilization, work planning, and equipment setup
  • Ensure safety protocols are communicated, understood, and enforced at all times
  • Manage materials, tools, and equipment required for daily operations
  • Read and interpret site plans, electrical drawings, blueprints, and scopes of work
  • Communicate effectively with Construction Managers, Project Managers, and other stakeholders
  • Oversee adherence to project schedules and assist in planning and budgeting
  • Utilize or be open to learning digital tools and mobile technology for job site efficiency
  • Maintain a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction, productivity, and crew morale

Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience leading underground utility distribution crews is required
  • Groundwork experience in utility construction is essential
  • Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems and construction practices
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and utility specifications
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Comfortable collaborating with all levels of the organization
  • Must be willing to:
    • Travel long distances on short notice
    • Work extended hours, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed
    • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain
  • Must pass a background check, drug and & alcohol screening, clearinghouse, and MVR check
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Must be able to climb poles and structures using proper climbing gear for extended periods
  • Frequent physical activities include standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements and operate hand tools and mechanical equipment
  • Work involves exposure to high-voltage systems, confined spaces, heights, and noisy environments
  • Must have close visual acuity to perform detailed inspections and tasks
  • Ability to work at elevated heights and in proximity to energized equipment using required PPE
  • Must be physically fit to perform pole-top rescue operations and emergency response activities

Working Conditions
  • Work is conducted outdoors in all types of weather, including inclement conditions
  • Subject to hazardous conditions typical in electrical utility environments
  • Must be flexible to travel to various job sites and remain on location for extended periods when needed
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times
