SUPERVISORY WORK:

SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the Water Production Supervisor, this position performs a variety of semi-skilled task in the servicing and maintenance of equipment and grounds in well fields, all pumping facilities, storage tanks and other appurtenances. May supervise a small crew of utility workers and/or seasonal employees. Implements and insures use of safety programs and safety equipment. This position will be required to work shifts including evenings, weekends,, holidays, and during inclement weather. This position is considered weather essential personnel.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the repair and maintenance of all types of equipment.
  • Assists Utility Maintenance Mechanic II with the inspection of pumps, motors, and other equipment.
  • Performs other needed services and maintenance.
  • Assists Utility Maintenance Mechanic II in servicing chemical feed equipment, valves, and control equipment at pump stations, and well sites.
  • Assists Utility Maintenance Mechanic II with the repair and/ or replacing of above and underground water lines and air reliefs.
  • Uses a variety of hand tools to maintain equipment.
  • Operates light equipment and trucks with the ability to pull and back a trailer
  • Follows written and oral instructions.
  • Assists in grounds and grounds equipment maintenance.
  • Implements preventive maintenance programs and helps maintain maintenance records.
  • Assists in the pulling, setting and repair of wells.
  • Assists Utility Maintenance Mechanic II in the construction and structural repairs of well houses and pumping stations
  • Works overtime and responds to callbacks by phone as required by workload or emergencies.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent and one year of relevant maintenance experience preferred. Must obtain and maintain a Class "D" Water Operators License issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality within one year of hire date. Class "A" Commercial Drivers License with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements preferred. Valid driver's license. Education in Industrial Maintenance preferred. Incumbent shall have a working telephone for after hours call back.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to operate small office equipment, including copy machines& scanners.
  • Ability to operate computers for data entry and word processing.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skill.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team setting.
  • Ability to safely operate and repair medium equipment and machinery, such as pumps and drive motors, , 2 and 4 cycle engines, commercial mowers.
  • Ability to read and write English and communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to take measurements and do mathematical computations as required by the job duties.
  • Ability and experience in the use of basic hand and power tools including lawn care equipment or demonstrate the aptitude necessary to being trained in their use.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and other areas or projects that require the use of respiratory safety equipment such as paper masks, half mask respirators, hoods, full face respirators, positive air supplied masks and self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
  • Ability to drive/operate various types of equipment used in this industry.
  • Ability to complete maintenance training courses as outlined by the Maintenance Foreman.
