Job Summary

The Utility Superintendent is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all field operations related to underground utility construction projects. This position oversees crews installing water, sewer, storm drain, and other underground utility systems while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements. The Utility Superintendent serves as the primary field leader and works closely with project managers, foremen, subcontractors, inspectors, and clients to ensure successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee daily field operations for underground utility construction projects.
  • Supervise utility foremen, operators, laborers, and subcontractors.
  • Plan daily and weekly work activities to maximize productivity and meet project schedules.
  • Review project plans, specifications, utility drawings, and contract documents prior to and throughout construction.
  • Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively identify scheduling conflicts or potential delays.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and ensure compliance with OSHA, company safety policies, and client safety requirements.
  • Ensure all work meets project specifications, quality standards, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
