Job description

Electrical Engineer – Substation Design

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer – Substation Design to join a leading engineering team in the energy and utilities sector. This full‑time position offers the opportunity to lead and support substation projects up to 765 kV, encompassing both physical and protection & control (P&C) design elements.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support substation projects (69 kV–765 kV), including layouts, schematics, and detailed design.
  • Develop drawings, wiring diagrams, grounding systems, relay panel layouts, and auxiliary power systems.
  • Perform QA/QC reviews of design packages, ensuring adherence to technical standards and project requirements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and oversee technical deliverables.
  • Coordinate with clients, internal teams, and vendors to ensure quality and timely delivery.
  • Prepare engineering budgets, schedules, construction specifications, and procurement documents.
  • Support business development, proposal preparation, and client presentations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (required).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in high‑voltage substation design (69 kV and above) for a U.S. power utility.
  • Project Lead or Technical Specialist experience.
  • Strong background in QA/QC and client coordination.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
