Job description

Spiniello Companies is a privately held, national, full-service utility contractor. Founded in 1922, we are one of the few companies that fully self-performs all aspects of open cut and specialty pipe rehabilitation. Headquarters in New Jersey, we also have office locations in Maryland, Washington D.C., and California.
The Project Manager will provide the overall direction, completion and financial outcome of civil construction projects as directed. This role will provide oversight with mentoring, coaching, and guidance to Project Engineers. This role will encompass the planning, execution and closeout of multiple projects and budgets, including acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and subcontractors to deliver the specific project action items as referenced within the specifications, drawings and executed contract.
  • Manage multiple construction projects
  • Manage change orders
  • Enforce overall Site-Specific Safety Plan
  • Direct and manage project development from beginning to end
  • Preparation of CPM schedule with progress updates as necessary in coordination with the Job Superintendent. Proficiency in Primavera scheduling software is a plus.
  • Provide overall communication of project expectations and objectives
  • Communicate and meet as needed with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis
  • Provide the necessary planning for the resources needed to achieve project goals
  • Prepare and Manage Project Cost Reporting
  • Attend pre-construction and job meetings
  • Prepare monthly Cost to Completes for accurate cost and revenue forecasting
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises and devise contingency plans
  • Manage direct reports to include Project Engineers
  • Prepare project status reports and ensure work adheres to contract specifications.
  • Lead and direct the work of others to include subcontractors
  • Effectively communicate corporate information to the project team as well as keep updated project files
  • Create and execute project work plans
  • Responsible for the overall management of the project (e.g., resources, schedule, cost tracking) to ensure complete solutions are delivered on time and within budget
  • Assist Fleet and Equipment departments with setting up major equipment and project needs
  • Monitor Quality Control and hold supervisors accountable for their deliverables
  • Review vendor invoices
  • Prepare and transmit appropriate project correspondence.
  • Carry out job duties while maintaining Spiniello values
  • And other duties assigned

Position Requirements and Qualifications
Knowledge of Civil Construction, Pipeline Rehabilitation, and Utilities construction. Ability to apply efficient, innovative, and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance and project success. Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices and standards, processes and activities.
  • Four-year construction management or engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years of project experience in Civil Construction/Underground Utility Construction.
  • Ability to read and evaluate drawings and relevant contract documents and to prepare takeoffs
  • Familiar with deep excavations, drainage, water, sewer, trenchless technologies and other civil construction scopes
  • Thorough understanding of construction codes and working knowledge of all trades and OSHA safety requirements
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interact and collaborate at all levels
  • Flexibility to travel, work after hours, and on nights/weekends
  • Must be highly organized and efficient, and able to handle a wide variety of obligations
  • Strong attention to detail and a self-starter
  • Creativity and innovation a must with strong analytical skills
  • Must have excellent team building skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Thorough understanding of construction accounting
  • Working knowledge of Sage Timberline and HCSS is a plus
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Working knowledge of Federal, State, and local entities
  • Passion for the work and industry
  • Knowledge of alternative delivery methods (Design/Build, CMAR, etc.) is a plus
