Position Summaryย 

The Foreman is a hands-on leader responsible for supervising and actively participating in the daily operations of utility construction projects. This role combines physical labor with leadership duties, ensuring the efficient and safe installation and maintenance of utility systems. The Foreman oversees construction operations and ensures compliance with safety standards to keep operations running smoothly. Foreman's experience is pivotal in maintaining Benchmark's high operational standards and fostering a productive work environment.ย ย 

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesย ย 

  • Supervises and coordinates daily activity and time reporting of field crewsย 
  • Supervises daily paperwork execution (toolbox talks, dig permits, etc.)ย 
  • Reviews, understands, and follows project plans and blueprints and track records of materials, deliveries, trucking and subcontractor workย 
  • Examines and inspects work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety and to ensure that specifications are metย 
  • Troubleshoots and solves operational problems in a timely manner to minimize downtimeย 
  • Maintains effective communication with Superintendent, project managers, and subcontractors to resolve issues, report progress, and address changes in project scopeย 
  • Identifies and addresses operational challenges or issues that may arise during underground utility installationย 
  • Supervises and coordinates a team of employees, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safelyย 
  • Performs operations to meet job costs, schedule, and production goalsย 
  • Conducts pre and post operating equipment checksย 
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and construction drawings, specifications, schematics, and technical manuals for equipment installation and repairย 
  • Locates, measures, and marks site locations or placement of structures or equipment, using measuring and marking equipmentย 
  • Be accountable of self and entire crew on job siteย 
  • Ensures compliance with site specifications and safety regulations, and manages quality standards of each projectย 
  • Inspects work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety and to ensure that specifications are metย 
  • Effectively communicates and resolves conflicts, address workplace disputes, and manage internal issues that arise on the job siteย 
  • Trains and mentors crew members to enhance technical skills and knowledgeย 
  • Manages performance evaluations for crew membersย 
  • Performs other duties, as assignedย ย 

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience in the construction industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or foreman roleย 
  • OSHA 10/30 Certificationsย 
  • Previous experience working with subcontractors and managing on-site teams effectivelyย 
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals for equipment installation and repairย 
  • Must be willing to perform duties of laborer and operator upon demand if necessaryย 
  • Be available six (6) days a week if neededย 
  • Ability to utilize mathematical formulas; adding and subtracting totals; multiplying and dividingย 
  • Ability to work independentlyย 
  • Physical stamina and ability to work in all weather conditionsย ย 
  • Must have reliable transportation to the assigned jobsite dailyย ย 

Preferred Qualificationsย ย 

  • Experience operating large heavy equipmentย 
  • High School Diploma or Equivalentย 
  • Valid Driver's licenseย
