Summary:
The Journeyman Systems Administrator will monitor daily operations, including server hardware, software, and operating systems.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
  • Designing, implementing, and managing Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) permissions within a multi-tenant enterprise environment.
  • Administering, maintaining, and optimizing Microsoft Active Directory domains, forests, trusts, and replication services.
  • Analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving Active Directory, authentication, DNS, and server-related issues.
  • Configuring, optimizing, fine-tuning, and monitoring domain controllers, Windows Server operating systems, and related infrastructure.
  • Implementing advanced security measures to protect Active Directory environments and ensure secure authentication services.
  • Performing system backups, recovery procedures, and disaster recovery support for enterprise directory services.
  • Building, promoting, configuring, and managing domain controllers in support of enterprise operations.
  • Coordinating technology installations, upgrades, patching, and maintenance activities for Windows server environments.
  • Developing and utilizing PowerShell scripts, Active Directory utilities, and diagnostic tools to automate administration and troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Managing production Windows Server environments supporting multiple mission-critical initiatives and global operations.
  • Testing, troubleshooting, and modifying enterprise directory services and server infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.
  • Providing technical expertise in Kerberos authentication, Active Directory LDAPS/LDAP, DNS, and enterprise identity management solutions.
  • Possessing and applying comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, Active Directory, DNS, and related enterprise technologies.
  • Planning and leading major infrastructure and directory services initiatives.
  • Evaluating performance results and recommending improvements affecting system reliability, security, and operational effectiveness.
  • Functioning as a technical expert across multiple project assignments and enterprise technology initiatives.
  • May supervise, mentor, or provide technical guidance to junior administrators and support personnel.

Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Domain Services, Domain/Forest Trusts, replication, and enterprise Windows Server environments.
  • Proficiency with Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), identity and access management principles, and enterprise authentication technologies.
  • Strong understanding of Kerberos Authentication Protocols, Active Directory LDAPS/LDAP, DNS, and their roles within enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex directory services, authentication, server, and infrastructure-related problems.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices for Active Directory security, system hardening, access management, and enterprise infrastructure administration.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated professional with experience implementing and supporting enterprise technology solutions while maintaining security, reliability, and operational excellence.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • DoD 8570 IAT II Certification required.
  • Minimum years of experience:
    • 9 years of experience with a High School Diploma.
    • 7 years of experience with an Associate's degree (AS/AA).
    • 5 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree (BS/BA).
  • Experience administering and maintaining Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 and Active Directory infrastructures supporting mission-critical operations.
  • Experience utilizing PowerShell scripting, Active Directory administration tools, and diagnostic utilities to automate tasks and troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Shift and weekend work is required.
  • DoD Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Linux Red Hat experience.
  • MCSA in a relevant field or Microsoft Certified Associate in a pertinent area.
  • VMware Certified Associate (VCA).
