Job Summary:
The Community UtilityAssociate performs a variety of food service functions in maintaining clean andsanitary conditions of Community food services, facilities, and equipment.He/she is responsible for washing dishes, washing pots and pans , general and equipmentcleaning, storage and rotation of food and supplies as well as the removal of all garbage; leaving machinery empty, clean, and dry;and keeping floors clean after each meal.
Responsibilities:
  • Follows the posted work schedule andarrives on time and in appropriate work attire
  • Responsible for the proper washing ofchina, flatware, glassware, and other kitchen equipment including machine rinsepressure and water temperature
  • Responsible for maintaining thekitchen and other assigned areas in a sanitary condition
  • Establishes and maintainsconstructive working relationships with other kitchen personnel and residents
  • Must be familiar with food-handlingprocedures and regulations
  • Must know how to operate kitchenappliances such as garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, and ice machine
  • May be required to help with foodpreparation, inventory, and maintenance as well as food deliveries and stockingshelves
  • Follow all emergency procedures
  • Understands all safety practices andprocedures
  • Reports on-the-job injuries to theCommunity Cook and/or Food & Beverage Director before the end of the workshift on the day the injury occurs
  • Communicates effectively with Food& Beverage Director and other staff
  • Advises Food & Beverage Directorof any changes in physical or mental health of a resident immediately
  • Maintains an acceptable attendance record, notifies Food & Beverage Director if he/she expects to be late or unable to work in accordance with personnel policies, and follows work schedule

Qualifications:
  • HighSchool diploma preferred/ GED accepted
  • Some kitchen experience is desirable
  • Basic knife skills required
  • Abilityto handle multiple priorities
  • Musthave organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Physically able to bend and reach
  • Physically able to push and pull andlift up to 40-50 pounds if necessary
  • Physically able to standfor extended periods of time

Miscellaneous
  • May be required to work weekends and holidays as assigned
  • May be required to work on shifts other than the one for which hired
  • May be required to work extended hours (up to 16 hours per day)
  • May be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including HIV, AIDS, and Hepatitis B and C viruses
  • Could be subject to hostile and emotionally upset Residents due to mental status
  • Must be in good physical and emotional health and free of communicable diseases
  • Background, criminal, and drug tests may be required
  • May be asked to submit to random drug test during employment
  • May have their picture taken and image used in social media or community advertising
  • May be video recorded from devices installed by families in residents' apartments
