Job description

Job Title: CEI Inspector - Utilities
Work Location: Atlanta, GA
Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interview
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Ability to read and interpret roadway and structure plans, contract specifications, schedules and quantities
  • Monitor the contractor's on-site construction activities and performing inspections to ensure conformance to project plans and specifications and document process
  • Prepare daily field reports
  • Ensure quality assurance is met for project
  • Meets scheduling and attendance requirements
  • Understands and interprets schematic drawings
  • Work on interstate widening project that requires utility monitoring
  • Inspect installation of all utilities on the project

Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma or bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of related work experience in utilities inspection as a part of an interstate improvement project.
  • Experienced in GDOT manuals, specifications and protocols
  • Familiar with traffic control plans including but not limited to traffic shifts, detours, lane closures or other activities that disrupt traffic flow
  • Knowledge of the properties, characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses of the materials used in construction
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable
  • Familiar with GDOT Utility Coordination procedures during construction

Physical Requirements:
  • Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
  • Ability to carry required instruments and equipment
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • The worker is subject to variable climate and environmental conditions including but not limited to extreme cold and heat.
