Position Description
Responsible for the coordination and oversight of utility relocations for roadway construction projects.
Performs utility coordination activities including:
  • Reading and understanding utility and construction plans, as well as Utility Adjustment Schedules (UAS) to determine the presence of underground and aerial utilities and their impact on roadway projects
  • Perform site visits of the project to verify existing utilities present as outlined in utility plans, in addition to identifying existing utilities not shown on utility plans and their potential conflicts to proposed construction
  • Review, monitor, and document utility relocation progress to ensure relocations are aligned and consistent with Utility Adjustment Schedules.
  • Prepare necessary project documents as required GDOT Utility Accommodation Policy and Standards Manual
  • Prepare meeting agendas, moderate, and document utility coordination meetings.
  • Ensures protection and safety of all project personnel, general public, and utility facilities associated within the project as outlined in the Georgia Utility Facilities Protection Act (GUFPA)
  • Perform other tasks as assigned to help accomplish project milestones/ goals

Position Requirements
  • BS in Engineering or Construction Management preferred but may be substituted with extensive field experience
  • State DOT pre-certifications qualifying individual to work as a Work-Site Utility Coordination Supervisor
  • Certificate of completion of approved Georgia Utility Facility Protection Act training course
  • Complete understanding of GA 811 operations and procedures
  • Knowledgeable of High-Voltage Safety Act
  • Minimum of 1 year experience directly related to highway and utility construction in a supervisory capacity
  • Proficient in reading and comprehension of highway construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Proficient in use of computer software such as word processing, spreadsheet, Microsoft Projects.
  • Experience with Design-Build projects and Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) preferred
