Job description

Description:

We are seeking an experienced Utility Engineering Manager to oversee our Savannah-based engineering team and be responsible for all transmission and distribution engineering related functions, including design, permitting, training and standards governance. The Utility Engineering Manager will streamline processes, mentor and monitor the performance of the team, and lead all functional areas within the utility engineering department.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage, train and mentor a team of designers and engineers.
  • Establish and monitor departmental goals, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop engineering solutions, including problem definition, cost analysis, and project execution.
  • Interface with clients, project managers, and field technicians to align on requirements and ensure successful delivery.
  • Conduct research, analysis, and prepare technical reports or presentations as needed.
  • Create a positive work culture that aids in team member engagement and retention.
  • Drive continuous improvement in electrical design processes, documentation practices, and team workflows.
  • Stay current with industry standards, energy solutions, and safety protocols.
  • Support business development through technical input, feasibility studies, and proposal development.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • 6+ years of engineering experience, with at least 3 years of experience leading a team.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Strong understanding of Engineering Principles as well as construction, maintenance and operations.
  • Experience in utility transmission and/or distribution desired.
  • Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Strong leadership skills in a virtual and office environment.
  • Proficient in general business principles including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to review engineering plans and understand permit requirements.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a diverse work environment.
  • PMP or similar project management certification is a plus.
