The Impact you will have in this role:

As a Lead Software Engineer on the UTC Modernization program, you will lead the transformation of core trade processing systems by modernizing legacy UTC applications into cloud ready, event driven architectures. This role is critical to advancing DTCC's multi year modernization strategy, improving resiliency, scalability, and real time processing capabilities across post trade platforms.
You will drive the design and implementation of distributed backend services leveraging Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and relational databases, supporting key functions such as MPID processing, trade validation, and data synchronization across systems. Your work will directly impact the accuracy, timeliness, and stability of trade processing workflows.
In addition to hands on development, you will provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and influence architectural decisions, ensuring solutions are aligned with enterprise standards, risk controls, and operational excellence. You will collaborate across squads and platform teams to deliver robust, production grade solutions that strengthen DTCC's role as trusted market infrastructure.
 

Your Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Act as a technical expert on one or more applications utilized by DTCC
  • Work with the Business System Analyst to ensure designs satisfy functional requirements
  • Partner with Infrastructure to identify and deploy optimal hosting environments
  • Tune application performance to eliminate and reduce issues
  • Research and evaluate technical solutions consistent with DTCC technology standards
  • Align risk and control processes into day to day responsibilities to monitor and mitigate risk; escalates appropriately
  • Apply different software development methodologies dependent on project needs
  • Contribute expertise to the design of components or individual programs, and participate in the construction and functional testing
  • Support development teams, testing, troubleshooting, and production support
  • Create applications and construct unit test cases that ensure compliance with functional and non-functional requirements
  • Work with peers to mature ways of working, continuous integration, and continuous delivery
  • Aligns risk and control processes into day to day responsibilities to monitor and mitigate risk; escalates appropriately

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 years of related experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience

Talents Needed for Success:

  • Strong backend engineering experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Kafka.
  • Hands on experience with Oracle or similar relational databases.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.)
  • Experience building distributed, event driven, or cloud native applications.
  • Experience with Angular for front end development
  • Ability to work across the full stack, contributing primarily to backend and messaging driven components while supporting UI work as needed.
