Job description

The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine is seeking a PRN Inpatient Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) Physician to join its rehabilitation team at the 49-bed UT Health East Texas Rehabilitation Center in Tyler, Texas.

 The ideal candidate will have an interest in academics and the ability to provide high-quality and compassionate care to complex patients.

About Your Work:

  • Inpatient
  • Join an experienced team that includes 1 nurse practitioner, physical therapists, nurses, support staff
  • Potential Hours: Mon-Fri, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Daily Patient Load: 16-20
  • EMR: Epic
  • Opportunities for outpatient clinic if desired

Certifications: UT Health East Texas Rehabilitation Center is a Joint Commission-accredited facility for Limb Loss and Stroke Rehabilitation.

  • UT Health East Texas Rehabilitation Hospital is a 49-bed facility in Tyler offering intensive, specialized therapy for patients recovering from stroke, injury, or surgery, supported by full system resources and outpatient services. The UT Health East Texas system is comprised of nine hospitals, more than 90 physician clinics, over 500 employed providers, 13 regional rehabilitation facilities, two freestanding emergency centers, six urgent care clinics, regional home health services covering 41 counties, an EMS fleet of more than 60 ambulances and four helicopters, and a comprehensive seven-trauma center care network, including a Level 1 trauma center. The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine is the first medical school in East Texas and the seventh in The University of Texas System. Its mission is to train future healthcare professionals to embrace responsibility for the unique needs of rural and hard-to-reach communities and populations, particularly those in East Texas. 

The school offers a robust Graduate Medical Education program, with 20 residency and fellowship training programs, enabling graduates to gain specialized skills in areas such as family medicine, internal medicine, neurology, psychiatry, surgery, and anesthesia.
