Job description

This is a dual posting with job ID 59730. One opening available. The final title will depend on the qualifications of the final candidate. 

The University of Missouri, Division of General Internal Medicine, is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to fill a critical role as an integral member of the General Internal Medicine team, delivering comprehensive, evidence-based, patient-centered care in an outpatient primary care setting. This role blends adult preventive medicine and integrated behavioral health, enhancing access to high-quality care for generally healthy adults.
The APP will provide routine wellness and preventive services, early disease detection, lifestyle counseling, chronic disease prevention, and management of common conditions. The role supports population health goals, preventive care metrics, and integrated care pathways across the clinic.
Key Responsibilities:
Preventive Care & Wellness
•    Perform comprehensive annual wellness exams and preventive visits.
•    Order and interpret routine screening tests, imaging and other diagnostics (e.g., lipids, A1C, cancer screenings).
•    Provide vaccinations per CDC immunization guidelines.
•    Counsel patients on nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, and tobacco cessation.
•    Identify early signs of chronic disease and initiate appropriate interventions.
•    Manage uncomplicated acute conditions within the scope of practice.
•    Deliver evidence-based care aligned with USPSTF recommendations.
•    Prescribe and provide medication management, including medication-assisted treatment (MAT) when appropriate.
•    Promote patient-centered care.

Behavioral & Mental Health Care
•    Conduct psychiatric and behavioral health evaluations.
•    Diagnose and manage common adult mental health conditions (e.g., depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance use disorders).
Care Coordination & Population Health
•    Coordinate referrals for specialty, preventive and behavioral health services.
•    Utilize population health tools to track outreach, preventive metrics, and follow-up needs.
•    Support quality initiatives related to cancer screening, immunizations, mental health outcomes, and lifestyle interventions.
