MCPP - Engineer Equipment Supervisor

THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA

Program Summary

The Marine Corps Prepositioning Program (MCPP) is based in Jacksonville, Florida. We provide maintenance and logistic services to the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) in support of this program. For over 35 years we have planned, coordinated, and executed the maintenance and logistic services for ground combat vehicles and support equipment for USMC Expeditionary Forces.

Job Summary

As the Heavy Equipment Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating all activities of engineer equipment mechanics engaged in repairing, adjusting, and servicing construction equipment/vehicles. You will manage equipment readiness, maintenance shop organizations, take control of maintenance assets and provide advice on all matters relating to engineer equipment maintenance.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure mechanics are properly trained in all maintenance functions.

  • Responsible for maintenance scheduling to determine the sequence of assignment based on the equipment condition and priority level.

  • Monitor quantity of workmanship to obtain optimal use of equipment, facilities and personnel.

  • Keep track of inventory of repair parts and equipment, to include requisitions for replacement stock.

  • Inspects work performed to ensure compliance with specifications and time schedules.

  • Interpret specifications, drawings, work orders, technical instructions, and layouts.

  • Coordinates department activities with other departments as needed.

  • Enforces compliance with all administrative policies, procedures, and governmental regulations.

  • Ensures employees adhere to all safety requirements, procedures, and policies.

  • Supervise and manage the administration of workspace for engineer equipment repair.

  • Recommend changes to procedures as appropriate.

  • Ensures compliance with all MPF ISO-9002 policies and procedures.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Supervises and coordinates activities of mechanics who are performing automotive mechanic duties incident to inspection, all levels of maintenance, and repair of motor transport vehicles.

  • Supervises and coordinates activities of motor transport mechanics engaged in repairing, adjusting, servicing, and storing motor vehicles.

  • Responsible for equipment readiness, maintenance shop organizations, control of maintenance assets and providing advice on all matters relating to motor transport maintenance.

  • Ensure mechanics are properly trained in all maintenance functions.

  • Determines sequence and assignment of work based on work priority and quantity of equipment to obtain optimal use of equipment, facilities, and personnel.

  • Keeps inventory of repair parts and equipment and requisitions replacement stock. Inspects work performed to ensure compliance with specifications and time schedules.

  • Interpret specifications, drawing, work orders, technical instructions, and layouts.

  • Coordinates department activities with other departments.

  • Ensures compliance with administrative policies, procedures, and governmental regulations.

  • Ensures employees adhere to all safety requirements, procedures, and policies.

  • Supervise and manage the administration of workspace for motor transport equipment repair.

  • Recommend changes to procedures as appropriate.

  • Complies with and ensures compliance with all MCPP ISO-9002 policies and procedures.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be able to pass a U.S. Government background investigation and obtain a Secret Clearance. Due to this, you must be a U.S. Citizen to be eligible for this position.

  • Associate's degree and/or course work towards a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering or other related discipline is preferred. In lieu of a degree, a combination of college credits, other formalized training or education, and directly related work experience may be considered.

  • Must have 8 years of directly related work experience including 2 years supervisory experience in an engineer equipment maintenance and repair environment.

  • Complete the Engineer Officers Course, or equivalent.

  • Possess the ability to use independent judgment in determining the extent of repairs needed based on analysis performed, user reports, inspection reports and vehicle records.

  • Must be proficient in the organization, management, operation and conduct of technical inspections of all engineer type equipment.

  • Must have a comprehensive understanding of maintenance procedures.

  • Possess the ability to comply with all established methods, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Army MOS 91L or 91X

  • Navy Seabee (CM)
