Job description


This entry-level position offers the opportunity to gain professional driving experience while providing safe, reliable, and courteous transportation for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Rate of Pay: $17.00-$19.00/hour
Responsibilities
  • Work 12 -20 hours per week, including 1 weekend day.
  • Safely operate transit buses along assigned routes and schedules.
  • Provide excellent customer service and assist passengers as needed, including those with disabilities.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Maintain accurate ridership and operational records.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and fellow drivers via radio or mobile data system.
  • Follow all departmental policies, traffic laws, and safety regulations.

Qualifications
  • One year of experience driving buses, or passenger vans; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
  • Possession of a current Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL) class B driver's license with passenger endorsement and no air brake restriction is required upon employment.
  • Pass pre-employment background tests to include Florida Department of Transportation Physical.
