User Testing Pay information

How do you become a user testing professional?

To become a user testing professional, you should develop skills in usability testing, user experience design, and familiarity with testing tools like UserTesting or Lookback. Gaining experience through online courses, certifications, or freelance testing opportunities can help build your portfolio and credibility in the field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a user testing (usability tester), and why are they important?

To thrive as a Usability Tester, you need keen observational skills, attention to detail, and an understanding of user experience principles, often supported by a background in UX, HCI, or related fields. Familiarity with usability testing platforms (such as UserTesting or UserZoom), recording software, and basic analytics tools is typically required. Strong communication skills, the ability to provide clear feedback, and adaptability help testers articulate insights and respond to diverse testing scenarios. These abilities ensure actionable feedback for product teams, contributing to improved user experiences and successful product development.

What is user testing pay?

User testing pay refers to the compensation individuals receive for participating in usability tests of websites, apps, or digital products. Earnings can vary depending on the platform, test length, and complexity, but most user testing sites pay between $5 and $60 per test. Typically, a standard usability test lasts around 20 minutes and pays about $10. Some specialized tests or interviews may offer higher rates. Payment is usually made via PayPal or direct deposit after the test is completed and approved.

What is the difference between User Testing Pay vs User Researcher Pay?

Job description

Lab37 Robotics, is a technology company focused on the development and deployment of robots designed specifically for direct-to-customer food production. Our mission is to revolutionize the food industry by creating innovative robotic solutions that enhance efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction. We are passionate about pushing the boundaries of technology to deliver cutting-edge products that meet the evolving needs of our industry.

Job Description: Own the user experience (UX) and visual design (UI) vision and strategy across one or more robotic systems and internal tools. Translate complex user needs, business goals, and technical constraints into intuitive, high-quality, and scalable design solutions. Drive the design process from concept through launch, ensuring an optimal balance between user satisfaction, product performance, and engineering feasibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the UI/UX across our product ecosystem: Design and refine user interfaces for robot-facing displays, customer-facing applications, culinary brands, and internal operational tools, ensuring a cohesive and intuitive experience.
  • Design System Management: Develop, document, and maintain the Lab37 design system, visual identity, and brand guidelines to ensure design consistency and efficiency across all platforms and products.
  • Lead User Research: Plan and conduct qualitative and quantitative user research (e.g., interviews, usability testing) to gather deep user insights, validate design concepts, and ground the product roadmap in real-world user needs.
  • Create Design Artifacts: Produce high-fidelity mockups, including working mockups rapidly created with generative AI tools, prototypes, detailed user flows, and clear specifications that clearly communicate design rationale and direction to engineering teams.
  • Facilitate Cross-functional Execution and Collaboration: Partner closely with product managers, engineers, and users throughout the design lifecycle; proactively communicate trade-offs and drive consensus on design decisions.
  • Template Development: Design and maintain internal templates and assets for documents and presentations to reinforce the Lab37 voice and brand across internal and external communications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, Graphic Design, or a related field;
  • 7-10 years focused on product design for complex hardware/software systems, enterprise tools, or similar domains.
  • Expert proficiency with design and prototyping tools, including Figma and generative AI design tools.
  • Proven track record of shipping and iterating on end-to-end user experiences with measurable results.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing experience across the full design process: research, ideation, prototyping, and final visual design.
  • Strong systems-thinking ability across mechanics, electronics, firmware, cloud services, and UX.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to influence without authority in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience designing for physical products, embedded systems, or robot user interfaces.
  • Experience building and scaling enterprise-level design systems.
  • Familiarity with food-service equipment, NSF/UL compliance, or other safety-critical electromechanical systems.

Additional Information:

Our work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and fun. We believe that a stimulating and enjoyable workplace is key to driving innovation and achieving excellence. At Lab37 Robotics, every team member plays a vital role in shaping the future of food production, and we are committed to supporting our employees' growth and success.

Pay and benefits: We are looking for best in class for both talent and work ethic and provide benefits and pay to match

Join us at Lab37 Robotics and be a part of a forward-thinking company that's transforming the way the world approaches food.
