Job Description
We're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our collaborative product development team and help design next-generation infrared camera systems. In this role, you'll work hands-on across the full product lifecycle-bringing innovative concepts to life and seeing your designs move from prototype to production.
You'll partner closely with electrical, optical, systems, and manufacturing engineers to create highly sophisticated, real-world products used in impactful applications.
What You'll Do
  • Own and contribute to product development from concept through production:
    • Create detailed 3D CAD designs using SolidWorks
    • Define mechanical architecture, build flows, and fixturing concepts
    • Conduct trade studies and design iterations to optimize performance
    • Perform finite element analysis (structural & thermal)
    • Complete tolerance analysis and support design validation
    • Build and test rapid prototypes
  • Collaborate cross-functionally
    • Work closely with Electrical, Optical, Systems, and Manufacturing teams
    • Interface with suppliers and production teams to ensure smooth builds
  • Drive quality and continuous improvement
    • Perform testing, failure analysis, and design refinements
    • Support production with yield improvements and process efficiencies
  • Deliver clear, high-quality documentation
    • Create drawings with GD&T,BOMs, and configuration management records
    • Develop technical documentation such as test plans, user guides, and specifications
What You Bring
  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or relevant work experience
  • Strong experience with SolidWorks (PDM experience a plus)
  • Hands-on experience with hardware assembly and testing
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles
  • Experience working with production teams and supporting builds

Nice to Have
  • Simulation experience (thermal, fluid, structural analysis)
  • Knowledge of machining, sheet metal, or injection molding design
  • Experience with optics or automated mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with GD&T and 2D drawing standards
