Requirements
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The UX/UI Analyst / Developer is a hands-on, customer-obsessed technologist responsible for designing, building, and continuously improving digital customer experience platforms at GLS US. At the intersection of research, design, and front-end engineering, this role translates business requirements and user insights into intuitive, high-quality digital products for shippers, recipients, and internal stakeholders.
Reporting to the VP of IT Services and guided daily by the Product Manager, the UX/UI Analyst / Developer collaborates across the organization and provides technical direction to offshore development resources on larger project initiatives. This individual operates within a leadership structure that extends from the VP of IT Services to the CTO of North America, ensuring alignment with the enterprise technology strategy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Customer Experience Platform Ownership
  • Own the end-to-end user experience for GLS US customer-facing digital platforms, including shipper portals, tracking experiences, and self-service tools.
  • Define and maintain design standards, component libraries, and UX patterns that ensure consistency and accessibility across all customer touchpoints.
  • Monitor platform performance and user feedback metrics; translate data into prioritized improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service, Sales, and Operations to understand user needs and translate them into actionable design and development requirements.

UX Research & Design
  • Conduct user research, including interviews, usability testing, and competitive analysis, to inform design decisions.
  • Produce wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and high-fidelity mockups using industry-standard design tools (e.g., Figma).
  • Apply accessibility best practices (WCAG 2.1 AA) and responsive design principles to all deliverables.
  • Facilitate design reviews and stakeholder walkthroughs; incorporate feedback iteratively.

Front-End Development
  • Develop and maintain front-end components and features using modern web technologies (HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and applicable frameworks such as Vue.js, React, or Angular).
  • Implement designs with precision, ensuring pixel-level accuracy and cross-browser/cross-device compatibility.
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code and participate in code reviews.
  • Integrate front-end work with back-end APIs and services in partnership with development teams.

Offshore Resource Coordination
  • Serve as the onshore technical lead and primary point of coordination for offshore development resources engaged on large project initiatives.
  • Define work packages, acceptance criteria, and quality standards for offshore team members; review and approve deliverables prior to integration.
  • Manage offshore sprint planning, stand-ups, and backlog grooming in alignment with Product Manager direction.
  • Identify and escalate risks or quality issues related to offshore delivery in a timely manner.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Governance
  • Partner with the Product Manager to define and refine the product roadmap for customer experience platforms.
  • Translate roadmap items into detailed technical requirements, effort estimates, and delivery milestones.
  • Provide regular status reporting to the VP of IT Services, highlighting progress, risks, and decisions required.
  • Ensure all platform changes adhere to GLS security, compliance, and change management standards
  • May be required to perform tasks beyond those explicitly listed in this role

FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience with at least one modern JavaScript framework (React, Angular, or Vue.js).
  • Proven ability to manage or coordinate with remote or offshore development teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex business needs into clear design and technical requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to business and technical stakeholders.
