Job description

MTSI is seeking a highly creative, user experience-focused Senior Web Developer with deep expertise in front-end development, modern UX/UI practices, and high-quality HMI design. The ideal candidate excels at transforming complex, data-rich information into clean, intuitive, visually compelling web interfaces that enable non-technical users and senior leaders to quickly understand system status, insights, and workflows. This role requires strong visual design instincts, exceptional front-end engineering skills, and a passion for crafting interfaces that simplify complexity.
Responsibilities
  • Design and develop intuitive, visually stunning, highly functional web interfaces and HMIs.
  • Create modern, responsive, and accessible front-end experiences using contemporary web technologies.
  • Translate complex system outputs and data into clean, easy-to-navigate web applications.
  • Develop interactive web pages, workflows, and visual displays tailored to non-technical and executive-level users.
  • Drive UX/UI strategy through wireframing, prototyping, and iterative user testing.
  • Ensure front-end performance, responsiveness, and cross-browser stability.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to refine UI/UX requirements.
  • Apply best practices in maintainability, code quality, version control, accessibility, and user-focused design.
  • Troubleshoot UI issues, visual inconsistencies, and usability barriers in both new and legacy interfaces.

Required Qualifications
US citizenship and an active secret level clearance required
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, Digital Media, or related field.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in front-end web development and UX/UI engineering.
  • Demonstrated expertise in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, TypeScript.
  • Experience with modern web frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.
  • Expertise in UX/UI design methods, prototyping tools, and user-testing practices.
  • Experience designing HMIs for highly interactive or data-rich applications.
  • Strong ability to simplify complex workflows and present information visually and intuitively.
  • Skilled in debugging, performance tuning, responsive design, and accessibility.
  • Experience with Git or similar version control systems.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in HCI, UX/UI Design, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience designing HMIs for mission-critical, engineering, or real-time operational systems.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps workflows, or automated UI testing tools.
  • Experience developing in Linux or mixed-platform environments.
  • Experience producing executive-friendly data visualizations and workflow interfaces.
