Job description

The Senior Product Designer II - Discovery will set the strategic design direction and elevate the end-to-end experience of our global e-commerce platform. This role will serve as a senior design leader and individual contributor, taking ownership of the most complex, ambiguous, and high-impact design initiatives across the organization. The Principal Product Designer will shape how millions of users interact with our products at a foundational level - defining experience standards, influencing product strategy, and driving a culture of design excellence that scales across teams and markets.

Job Expectations:

  • Define and lead the strategic design vision for complex, cross-functional initiatives spanning multiple product areas, from problem definition through delivery and iteration.

  • Drive ambiguous, high-stakes design challenges by establishing clear direction and framing problems at an organizational level.

  • Establish and advance research strategies that deepen organizational understanding of shopper behaviors across global markets, synthesizing insights into scalable design frameworks and principles.

  • Produce exemplary design artifacts - from strategic frameworks and service blueprints to high-fidelity prototypes - that set the quality standard for the design organization.

  • Own and govern the design system, driving its evolution to support scalability, accessibility, and global usability across product lines and teams.

  • Serve as a design authority and strategic partner to product, engineering, and data science leadership, influencing product roadmaps and organizational priorities.

  • Define and uphold the bar for design quality, consistency, and craft across the organization, from concept through implementation.

  • Mentor and develop senior and lead designers, contributing to the growth of design culture, capabilities, and ways of working across the broader team.

  • Identify and introduce emerging UX, UI, and e-commerce design practices, championing innovation and continuous improvement at an organizational scale.

  • Represent the design organization in cross-functional and executive-level conversations, clearly articulating strategic design decisions and their business impact.

The duties and responsibilities described above may provide only a partial description of this position. This is not an exhaustive list of all aspects of the job.  Other duties and responsibilities not outlined in this document may be added as necessary or desirable, with or without notice.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Required:

  • An exceptional portfolio demonstrating strategic design leadership, transformative UX outcomes, and deep craft - with clear evidence of cross-organizational impact and measurable business value.

  • Proven ability to define and execute design strategy across multiple initiatives simultaneously, balancing user needs, business priorities, and organizational complexity.

  • Expert-level interaction and visual design skills, with a track record of setting craft standards for teams and organizations.

  • Deep experience owning and evolving design systems at enterprise scale, including governance, contribution models, and cross-team adoption.

  • Advanced mastery of user-centered design methodologies, mixed-methods research practices, and usability testing, with experience establishing research programs or org-wide frameworks.

  • Exceptional communication and executive presence, with a demonstrated ability to influence product direction and organizational decisions at the VP and executive level.

  • Strong understanding of front-end development principles and the ability to collaborate deeply with engineering leadership on implementation strategy.

  • In-depth knowledge of accessibility standards, inclusive design practices, and global usability requirements.

  • Extensive experience designing for global or multi-market products, with sensitivity to cultural and regional variation.

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Excellent organization skills and ability to multi-task

Equipment Knowledge:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Experience with Google Business Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms) preferred
