Web Development & Digital Marketing Intern (AI-Focused)

Location: Draper, UT (Hybrid Preferred)
Duration: 10–12 weeks (Full-time internship)

Position Overview

Kelso Industries is seeking a motivated intern to support a website modernization initiative across our operating companies (OpCos). This role will focus on evaluating AI-based website development tools, assessing the current state of OpCo websites, and helping build scalable, brand-aligned website solutions that better support marketing, communications, recruiting, SEO, customer confidence, and cross-selling across the Kelso network.

This is a hands-on project ideal for someone interested in AI tools, web design, digital marketing, communications, UX, SEO, content management, website administration, and business process improvement.

The intern will help research and test AI website platforms, compare hosting and support models, present recommendations, and begin building or refreshing websites based on approved direction.


What You'll Do1. Website Audit & Current-State Assessment
  • Inventory OpCo websites, vendors, hosting platforms, and ownership structure
  • Evaluate UX/UI, mobile responsiveness, SEO, content quality, and brand alignment
  • Identify gaps such as outdated content, broken links, inconsistent branding, and missed recruiting opportunities
  • Assess how effectively sites connect to the broader Kelso network

2. AI Website Tool Evaluation
  • Research and evaluate AI-based website builders and tools
  • Compare platforms across:
    • Usability & design quality
    • AI content generation
    • SEO capabilities
    • Customization & scalability
    • Cost, hosting, and security
  • Build test pages / prototypes to validate capabilities
  • Document strengths, limitations, and best-fit use cases

3. Website Build & Optimization
  • Support creation or refresh of:
    • Landing pages
    • Career pages
    • Service pages
    • Leadership bios & project highlights
  • Assist with:
    • Site structure, navigation, templates
    • Hosting/domain setup
    • Forms and basic SEO implementation
  • Execute quick-win improvements (content updates, CTA optimization, link fixes)

4. Content & Digital Marketing Support
  • Evaluate messaging for services, recruiting, and brand positioning
  • Identify opportunities to improve:
    • Employer branding
    • Cross-selling between OpCos
    • Customer trust and clarity
  • Help create content standards and templates
  • Support light copywriting and AI-assisted content generation

5. Strategy & Recommendations
  • Develop comparisons of platforms, vendors, and support models
  • Deliver a final recommendation on:
    • Centralized vs. decentralized website management
    • AI tool adoption strategy
    • Cost and scalability considerations
  • Present findings and roadmap to leadership
