Job Summary
The UX Designer II works as part of the UX Design team at Extra Space to enhance digital user experience over multiple platforms(Website, My Account, Kiosk, Mobile Apps, Customer Service Software, and Store Manager Software.)TheDesignerworks cross-functionally with Web Ops, Product, Marketing, CX, Data Science, and Engineeringto identify specifications and meet companyand usergoals. The Designerproduces ideas and presents them to key stakeholders in the company.
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design holistic experiences for users that support their goals and intended outcomes

  • Designintuitive, usable, and engaging experiencesfor multiple devices and platformsusing Figma

  • Work with product, web ops, and engineeringto understand product specifications

  • Find creativeand innovativeways to solve UX problems

  • Conduct user research andusability testing and distill that feedback into actionable data

  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative datato make data-informed decisionsfor your designs

  • Support experimentation efforts by helping define hypotheses, success metrics, and UX benchmarking

  • Analyze user behavior, feedback, and performance metrics to identify friction points and opportunities for optimization

  • Present and communicate design recommendations to stakeholders clearly, supported by rationale tied to user needs, business goals and available data

  • Stay informed on competitors, industry trends, UX best practices, emerging technologies, and AI tools that can improve our processes and products

  • Workindependently to provide design solutions and seek out clarity when needed

  • Contribute ideas to the backlog based on research, analytics and customer insights

  • Proactively contribute to projects outside of the day-to-day work, process improvements, and UX goals

  • Ability to work within existing design system and brand guidelines and contribute to creating or evolving guidelines as needed

  • Ensure that work meets WCAG AA standards for accessibility


Qualifications

  • BS degree or relevant work experiences with a focus on user experience and interaction design

  • 3-5 years of experience in UX Design


Competencies

  • Understanding of core UX design concepts and principles

  • Advocates for experiences that considerboth the goals of the user and the business

  • A thorough understanding of interaction design and information architecture

  • Proficient inFigmaand the Microsoft Suite

  • Knowledge of Quantum Metrics is preferred, but not required

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment to create delightful experiencesfor our customers

  • Continued education and research into UX/UI trends and current design strategy and technologies

  • Professional writtenand interpersonal skills when communicating withstakeholders and users

  • Ability to independently prioritize and manage several milestonesand projects efficiently

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Performs sedentary work in an office environment with limited lifting (less than 10 pounds) or walking required. Close visual acuity required to perform work at computer terminal. No exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Requires repetitive typing motion, talking, hearing, grasping and feeling.
