What We're Looking For:

The Mid-Level Industrial Designer at Zebra partners with product development teams across all business units, including mobile computing, printing, data The Industrial Designer level II at Zebra partners with product development teams across all business units, including mobile computing, printing, data capture, intelligent asset tracking, and automation solutions. Designers work directly with product development organizations to deliver innovative product solutions, playing a key role in creating a competitive advantage for Zebra. The designer works closely with engineering teams to integrate all aspects of technical performance needs—balanced with end-user and customer workflow factors—into high-volume manufacturing. He/she will have an opportunity to work with multiple cross-functional teams in a fast-paced product development environment.
In the era of AI, this role is evolving to include leveraging computational tools and AI-driven prototyping to accelerate innovation, validate complex hardware/software interactions, and deliver next-generation, AI-enabled user experiences.
Location- ***Role is required to be onsite in the Holtsville, NY office (Hybrid- Minimum of 3 days in the office per week).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with Senior Design leads to visualize the vision, prototype, and validate design intent, and guide the development team on directions that build on user-centered design principles.
  • Work on all stages of the design development process, from customer research and concept development to design validation and execution.
  • Support the creation of design concept proposals and presentations for stakeholder alignment and decision-making.
  • Create both conceptual and production 3D CAD models, ensuring the Design Vision is carried through to production.
  • Engage with JDM manufacturing partners for production design activities.
  • Create and maintain CMF (Color, Material, Finish) documents.
  • Utilize AI-driven generative design and computational tools to explore and optimize design solutions based on performance, material, and manufacturing constraints.

  • Strong problem-solving and conceptual development ability.
  • Excellent conceptualization sketching and ideation skills
  • Excellent sense of form, proportion and detail development
  • Solid experience in product design, demonstrating ability to resolve 3D form language.
  • Strong oral, written, and visual communication and documentation skills and ability to operate autonomously

Qualifications: 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree required 
  • 3+ years of experience 
  • Industrial Design experience 
  • Proficiency in building 3D CAD models is a must.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Expert level knowledge of Nurb based surfacing tools (e.g. Autodesk Alias preferred)
  • Experience with engineering software (Pro-E/Creo or SolidWorks)
  • Expert Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Keyshot rendering skills required.
  • Expert in modern AI tools (e.g., Midjourney, Vizcom, Veo, Firefly) for ideation, rendering, and rapid prototyping.

Pay Range:

$76,640.00 - $114,960.00 Annual

Incentive Compensation:

In addition to base pay, Zebra offers this role the opportunity to earn a performance-based annual cash incentive, at a target equal to 10% of base pay, in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
