Position Announcement
Join Utah Valley University's Digital Experience & Accessible Technology team and play a key role in shaping how users interact with digital platforms across the institution. In this position, you will lead comprehensive usability testing efforts, partnering with cross-functional teams to design and execute research that yields meaningful insights. By applying a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods, you'll translate user feedback into clear, data-driven recommendations that directly inform design decisions and improve overall user satisfaction.
This role offers the opportunity to own the full research lifecycle, from planning and testing to analysis and implementation, within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment. You'll present findings to stakeholders at all levels, influencing decisions that enhance accessibility, usability, and experience across digital products. This position requires working onsite in the office, supporting close collaboration with team members and campus partners. Ideal for someone who is curious, analytical, and passionate about user-centered design, this role allows you to make a measurable impact while growing expertise in UX research and data-informed strategy.
Summary of Responsibilities
  • Lead and conduct user research activities such as interviews, surveys, focus groups, and usability tests, documenting and organizing insights to guide design decisions. You'll employ advanced UX research techniques, including A/B testing, card sorting, and feature enhancement assessments, using industry-standard tools to gather and analyze data. The position involves translating research findings into actionable recommendations, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and effectively communicating insights to stakeholders to drive user-centered product improvements.
  • Participate in the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data to identify user needs, pain points, and behavior patterns. In collaboration with DEAT staff, collaborates with decision makers to identify questions, conduct analysis, and interpret findings. Works in collaboration with DEAT staff to facilitate the utilization of these data through both written and verbal communication; this includes presentations, executive summaries/briefs, data visualizations, reports, etc.
  • Maintain lab environment. Oversee the setup, maintenance, and calibration of testing equipment and software in the usability lab.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with an Associate's degree or two years of related field experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Fundamental problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness and enthusiasm to learn UX testing methods and practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Open-mindedness, active listening, and respect for diverse perspectives.
  • Familiarity with UX (user experience) research and UX/usability software.

  • Familiarity with UX (user experience) research and UX/usability software, such as facial coding and eye tracking.
