Job description

Principal UX Designer – Analytics Vision, located in Montgomery, AL. Every day thousands of business intelligence analysts and authors use Oracle Analytics to understand complex data and communicate it interactively to non‑technical business partners. Oracle’s flagship analytics tool is a leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant, driving better decisions for a wide range of businesses.

Role Focus

This role is a specialist in interaction design for professional tools, leading cross‑functional teams through vision and incremental feature designs. You will help make user interfaces for canvas authoring more elegant, efficient, and powerful; explore how generative AI and other automations can empower analytics authors to create more beautiful results with less effort; envision new types of analytics artifacts for decision makers; and enable business leaders with no analytics expertise to self‑serve valid answers and communicate them to others.

Responsibilities
  • Lead vision and long‑view direction across disciplines, delivering compelling stories and beautiful craft grounded in user value.
  • Drive design of full‑stack user experiences, covering strategy, product ecosystem, multiple interacting user roles, workflow, information architecture, interaction, and visual design.
  • Conduct exploratory and evaluative sessions to deeply understand user objectives and needs, refine workflows, UI and strategy, and translate insights into high‑fidelity prototypes.
  • Own and drive the experience of Oracle Analytics products, incorporating feedback quickly and adapting to evolving business requirements without compromising quality.
  • Define and iterate new design patterns as needed for the future of the platform.
  • Collaborate closely with designers, researchers, writers, product managers, and engineers worldwide.
  • Elevate the design culture by sharing best practices, mentoring early‑career designers, and fostering a design‑led, inclusive environment.
  • Be fluent in data literacy, able to communicate complex chart and spreadsheet information clearly to stakeholders.
  • Act as a catalyst for change, advocating for system evolution when necessary and creating unique, arresting moments that delight users.
  • Continuously learn, test assumptions with quantitative and qualitative data, and iterate based on findings.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in enterprise product design.
  • 5+ years working on complex tasks or authoring tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead vision and tell persuasive stories across interdisciplinary teams.
  • Strong data literacy and ability to translate data into compelling visual stories.
  • Full‑stack UX design experience: strategy, ecosystem analysis, interaction, visual design, and information architecture.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to set direction and build alignment among leaders.
  • Proven track record of delivering efficient, elegant solutions to nuanced and challenging tasks.
  • Executed design system initiatives and advocated for necessary evolutions.
  • Evidence‑based, user‑centered mindset with a passion for learning.
