SAP America, Inc. seeks a User Experience Design Specialist at our Palo Alto, CA or San Ramon, CA location to provide Enterprise Mobile Design Systems and Mobile Product Design, Requirement Engineering, Evaluation and Support to mobile platform & product development teams, including the research and design of digital products and systems, visual and motion graphics, voice response, and conversational user interaction.


Expectations and Tasks

Create, evaluate, and refine UI components and patterns for mobile design system on Android and iOS to support software application development. Ensure consistency and scalability within our design systems. Conduct onsite and remote user research through various methods such as semi-structured interviews and surveys. Collect and analyze user data to generate insightful reports that inform design decisions and strategies. Convert user data into comprehensive task flows and use cases for targeted enterprise scenarios, ensuring user needs are effectively addressed in the design process. Adapt complex web design solutions for mobile environments on Android or iOS, ensuring intuitive and accessible user experiences across platforms. Produce detailed mobile enterprise UI product specifications, including mobile user requirements, visual design, interaction behavior, edge case handling, conversational interaction and accessibility annotations, to guide product development. Develop UI prototypes that support the evolution of software application development, facilitating swift iteration and feedback. Conduct usability studies to test UI component and pattern concepts, validating use cases within specific domain areas and ensuring optimal user experiences. Partner closely with developers, data scientists, product managers, and accessibility experts to ensure the design is implemented consistently, is technically feasible, and aligns with business objectives. Review implementations, offering input on user experience design considerations to optimize the final product and enhance user satisfaction.


Education and Occupational Experience

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Human Computer Interaction, Design, Digital Media, or a related field of study and five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation. Alternatively, a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Human Computer Interaction, Design, Digital Media, or a related field of study and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.


Qualifications/Skills and Competencies Experience

Experience must include three (3) years involving each of the following:



  • Designing reusable, mobile native UI Software Components for enterprise users adhering to the SAP Design System and the SAP UI Technologies;

  • Comprehensive enterprise ready, reusable UI Software Component Design specifications including customization, adaptiveness as well as design documentation;

  • SAP Product Standard Accessibility 4.1 and conducting accessibility reviews for mobile applications;

  • Designing re-usable enterprise AI Patterns and conversational experiences for SAP business and industry scenarios;

  • Creating and maintaining Figma UI Kit Libraries, including component variants and token-based design languages based on Material Design System or Apple HIG;

  • Ensuring high-quality developed components by working with developers, including the tools Figma and Android Studio or Xcode;

  • Business domain use in enterprise resource planning (ERP) including Spend Management and Supply Chain Management;

  • Proficient in User Research Methodologies, including heuristic evaluations, A/B Testing, and testing UI prototypes with the tools User Testing or UserZoom ;

  • UI Technologies for Jetpack Compose (Android) or SwiftUI (iOS); and

  • Working with cross-functional, international, and multicultural product teams.

Compensation Range Transparency

The annual base salary range for this position is $ 170,320 - $206,460. SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step towards demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is $170,320 - $229,400 . The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
