Job description

Design Systems UX/UI Designer

Digital App Tech Lift Team based in the greater Seattle area is looking for a seasoned Design Systems UX/UI Designer with previous experience bringing together web and mobile application's design systems into a single experience. Ideal candidates will have a strong visual background and an understanding of the process and techniques of converting graphical interfaces into digital interactions to add to the Design System across web, iOS, and Android. The ideal candidate loves solving complex interface design and interaction problems, collaborating cross-functionally, detail oriented in documentation, and coming up with elegant, powerful solutions.

In this role, you'll assist in the creation and on-going governance of our new UX/UI Design System, helping to develop our design system in collaboration with our design team, and establish the framework for design system documentation. You'll serve as a subject matter expert to designers, engineers, and product managers for all things related to the UX/UI design system. A successful candidate is comfortable thinking in terms of systems, connecting, and making relationships across multiple teams and experiences. You have experience with design languages and human interface guidelines and are familiar with frameworks, components, and patterns -- ideally as both a designer and system creator. You excel at dealing with ambiguity and love solving ambitious problems in an agile, iterative manner.

Job Duties

  • You will create the core elements of the Design System, specifying UX, visual, interaction and motion elements as well as documenting behaviors and usage guidelines.
  • You will cultivate internal knowledge around the design system by serving as a subject matter expert to contributing teams who are building additions to the design system.
  • You all work with designers to develop the components for the system.
  • You will use collaborative leadership skills to facilitate the adoption of the design system and ensure the best outcome for stakeholders.

About You

You are comfortable thinking in terms of systems, connecting and making relationships across multiple teams and experiences. You have experience with design languages and human interface guidelines and are familiar with frameworks, components and patterns -- ideally as both a designer and system creator. You are used to dealing with ambiguity and love solving ambitious problems in an agile, iterative manner. You are an experienced, detail-oriented designer with strong knowledge of interaction and visual design as well as familiarity with information architecture. You have strong written and verbal communication skills and have experience aligning teams and stakeholders by persuasion and influence.

Job Requirements

  • Experience overseeing other designers and giving actionable design feedback
  • Experience leading cross-team efforts and collaborating with engineering, design, and product management
  • Experience designing for all kinds of devices and screens
  • Familiarity with relevant front-end technologies and frameworks (HTML/CSS/Javascript) and their affordances and limitations
  • A solid grasp of user-centered design (UCD), user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility concerns
  • Expert written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
  • Portfolio demonstrating your expertise and ability to articulate your process
  • Positive attitude, collaborative spirit and openness to giving and receiving feedback
  • Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of cross-functional teams
